DS1 is 5 and has been asking to go running with me since i started a couple of weeks ago.

I told him it would be too far and if he changed his mind while we were out there wouldn't be much we could do about it. I offered a jog round the park so we could come back when he was tired but he insisted on running to my sisters about a mile away.

So we ran there and back with a quick drink of water halfway.

And he was so lovely and chatty the whole way. (I now know how to run like a power ranger).

He was great and i'm so proud of him.

sorry no aibu? just a preen.

Gosh, I'm impressed!
(At both of you, btw, running is beyond my experience)

Thanks FromGirders.

I've just started running again so a couple of miles is fine at the moment.

Well done to him

My 7y DD likes running and has been out with DD a few times in the past. She has run a couple of mile fun runs, first one at 4y, and is doing the Sport Relief mile on Saturday. She wanted to do the 3 mile but DH - who is running with her - vetoed it, lol.

It is great exercise but make sure he is wearing decent trainers if you do it a lot as road running can be bad for joints.

He wore his school trainers (Geox) he says they are his fastest ones.

if he doesn't lose interest after a few runs i'll get him some decent ones.
