Swimming nappies

Hi,

We are going to take our DD swimming soon. She's almost 7 months. Just one question, what sort of swimming nappies/swimsuits/swim briefs did you find most useful for keeping baby dry (and pool clean).

get reuseable swim nappies. mother ease do one, but there are others. really don't bother with the disposable ones, they are about £1 a swim but the washable ones are £9 or much less if you check out ebay.
people don't tend to pee much in wacher, i think it's the pressure, but if a poo is done you'll still need to get it down the loo asap, but them you can just clean her up and get back in the pool!

Yes I used kushies swim nappies this kind of thing tho mine were plainer.

Not cheap but worth it per use (well, we always went a lot).

You need the different sizes - I had 3 and used them for all 3 children then sold them for £5 so not bad really. They do work as well (DS2 tested them )

We have used this swim nappy since starting swimming at 12 weeks, we're on 2nd pair at 15 months. Never had a leak

Swim nappies don't keep the baby dry, and don't keep the wee in. They're there to keep any poo contained. We've always used washables. We've had 4, IIRC. All the polyurethane-lined ones lasted for all 3 dc. The only one that wore out was a different make and lined with something else. As youngest dc is now potty-trained, I do't remeber what makes they were. I think the good ones were Kooshies. Polyurethane is what the better washable wraps are made with. It is quite tough and fully machine-washable.

As our first was a boy, and dd wore his hand-me-downs, she wore his swim briefs too. Swim briefs are more useful than shorts or all-in-ones, because you can easily get flotation suits or sunscreen suits on and off over them.

I have always used Aquanappies reusables. Neighbour gave me a hand-me-down newborn -3 months one. I was so pleased with it I have got bigger sizes as needed (all from Ebay for very little).

I second what prettycandles said about them only keeping the poo in. Don't think you can get ahead of the game by dressing the baby in swim nappies at home then travelling to swimming pool. You will have a wet car seat to clean up.
