Can someone talk to me about Detoxing?

I recently lost some wieght but fell off the wagon in a big style and piled it on plus more again, my skin is also suffering and the first time in my life i am greasy and spotty
I have never been this big (except when pregnant) usually when i gain wieght i don't notice untill i see a recent picture of myself but this time i really have noticed which means it must be a lot. Usually i can cover any excess weight with dressing well but again no amount of carefully chosen clothes are covering it.

Anyway like i say my skin and general health is suffering, i feel slugish and blah.

I would like to Detox my system but im not sure how to, is it even safe?
Anyone know a simple plan i could follow before starting a healthy eating plan with a bit more excersise.

I need to wake up and smell the Pizza, i need to get serious about my health now before it gets to an out of control level.

You just need to do some exercise and eat good foood which means stuff that is not processed, lots of whole grains, fruit, veg and protein. Cut out/down on booze and caffeine and drink a lot of water.

'Detoxes' are not clinically effective.Your body has itsown detoxing system which is the liver and kidneys. Commercial 'detoxes' are about nothing more than parting you from your cvash.

I've done this Charlie;

day 1: raw fruit & veg or smoothies/juices
drink loads of water juice and herbal tea.
day 2; introduce cooked fruit and veg
day 3; introduce cooked grains, cereals nuts seeds and pulses
day 4; introduce fish
day 5; add dairy
day 6; add meat and eggs.

I found this easy to do and by the end of the week I was feeling much better, eating and preparing all fresh food and didn't feel the need for any refined stuff.

One word of warning from my experience though, try to cut out tea, coffee and caffeine drinks before you start day one. Coming off them entirely entails two days of horrendous headache. So its a good idea to do this first or you might feel like caving in.

hope this is helpful.

The book 'Bad Science' effectively debunks detox diets (ie what is a toxin? The promoters of detoxes never say).
I agree with the PP who said eat unprocessed foods, drink lots of water and do some exercise every day.
Starving yourself or only eating cucumber is just daft imo
Good luck though. You will feel much happier with yourself knowing you are back in control

Rather than doing a detox that takes a week for example, you need to slowly improve your diet and increase exercise.

Start by cutting out alcohol, sugar and sweetners, tea and coffee.

Eat fruit for snacks. Replace refined bread, rice and pasta etc. with wholemeal.

Drink more water, eat less meat or cut out for a while. Eat more pulses.

This is the easy part, the difficult part is sticking to your new improved diet.

Detoxes are, ahem, a load of bollocks IMO

Start straight away with your healthy eating plan and more exercise - if you keep it up you will start to feel better within a few days, and see the different in your skin, energy levels, and your figure, within a few weeks

Good luck and enjoy!
