exercise which won't aggravate injured knee

I tore the cartilage in my right knee 6 weeks ago and am waiting for surgery to flush it out. I've not been able to walk far or fast, run, swim or cycle since I injured it - it keeps 'locking' and is very uncomfortable. I'm beginning to feel like I'm seizing up through lack of exercise, as well as putting on weight

any ideas as to what I can do which won't make it worse? I have a provisional date for surgery of 19th March which still seems like a long long way away

something that doesnt use the legs?
weights? or the cardio machine in the gym that does the cycling action but with your arms?
good luck withthe surgery

using two bottles of salt, you can improvise weights.

Ouch, poor you!
Whatever you do, don't do step aerobics (if it still exists!).
Not much to do if you can't swim or walk easily - I'd ask gp to refer you to a physio to help with some exercises to build up strength in muscles around the knee whilst you're waiting for surgery - unless this is something that your injury can't cope with in which case only your gp or specialist/surgeon will be able to advise. Good luck with the surgery.

just had mine fixed 3 weeks ago, ( had other knee 2 years ago) it makes such a big difference to have a comfortable knee again.
