MBTs - are they any good? Recent c-section, feeling weedy and ginormous

Ok, so c-section seven weeks ago and have three stones to lose from pregnancy I love walking and I think it might be a good place to start. Are those trainers any good with the bottoms like rocking horses? Anything that's going to tone as I walk would be good, but if they are a fruitless waste of money I shan't bother. A colleague of mine said they made her feel queasy (the sensation as she walked, not the look of the things, which admittedly ain't fabulous). Anyone used them, or anything similar? Or even just has experience of decent steady weightloss after a c-section and willing to say what they did? I am not looking for a miracle cure, I know it's going to take me months, but I just want to do it properly and sensibly. Thanks...

They are also good for excersing your pelvic floor without even realsing it!

Hello Iwish, I live in Oxfordshire most of the time and London some of the time - (sounds grander than it is). So South Wales is a bit far. Nice part of the world, though!

Where do you live ladyT?

There's a shop near us in South Wales that do them too (Cowbridge) and also one in McArthur Glen in Bridgend

Ok, I think I might get some then. Not worried about the way they look. They sell them in John Lewis, I will probably try to buy some at the weekend. I hope they can fit them ok - the shop assistants in JL are usually quite unhelpful

definitely fantastic for back/joint problems.

I've practically lived in MBT's for the past couple of years - very comfy

I don't think I've lost much weight though, but then I don't have much opportunity for it - lots of standing around with toddlers freezing my arse off admiring flowers and any other crap on the pavemement

I bought some a few years ago, but hardly ever wear them as they're so ugly. And they didn't help with my back at all.

I lost loads of baby weight through bf and walking -pre MBTs.

Oh - they're supposed to be thigh toning as well (because you stand up straighter and use different muscles) but my thighs are so horrible I haven't noticed a difference

I have some and they are brilliant for back and joint problems. A friend of mine also sorted out an achilles tendon with them (she says). You do have to get them fitted properly, and they are mostly v ugly, but I went for the black trainers and they're not noticeable under long-leg jeans (you just feel a bit club-footed at first). And for something so heavy they make your feet feel really light. Find a fitter and have a try?

I hadn't thought of the back element. Hmm. Thye might be worth buying for that alone - pregnancy and lifting DD strangely after my cs has left me with the back (and knees) of a nonagenarian.

My belly is quite bad, MrsM, but my thighs are quite, quite hideous.

They take some getting used to! And you will feel a plonker the first few times you wear them . I personally wasn't a huge fan as I am very tall and I felt like a giant in them (luckily I tried a friend's and didn't buy).

I've got an 8 wk old DD and am trying to lose at least 2 stone, btw

I've been walking loads the past week or so and have lost 4 lbs. It's a start, eh? And it's free and you can fit it in to your day wherever....

I don't personally have experience but a colleague of mine swears by them. Not so much for weightloss though, more for helping with her hip and back problem.
