orthotic insoles

Just wondered if any of you use orthotic insoles when you jog or walk.

I get pain in my left ball and socket joint when I walk, my wellies are all worn one side at the heel and I am forever replacing them.
I don't know weather to bother the doctor to get this checked to make sure my walking style is causing the problem or to go to a chiropodist, in fact...I'm not even sure a chiropodist does this sort of thing...

I walk my dog several times a day and I'm finding it hard to walk for longer than an hour..

any advice for me on my pain.. these orthotic insoles.. or where I could get them from.... I'd be really grateful..
cheers...

My Mum has been suffering with terrible back and leg pain, her oestopath couldn't figure out why she wasn't improving, until she watched her walking.

She went to a foot care place where they scanned her feet while she was walking, 5% of her foot was touching the floor! She had insoles especially made and the difference is remarkable.

blimey... did the doctor refer her to the foot care place or the the oestopath.. or was it just a walk in

Boom! boom!

No her oestopath (I know I'm not spelling that right ) told her about it but she just called in herself.

The scan was £40 and the insoles were £100 but they have a lifetime guarantee.

I have orthotic insoles for walking. got referred to orthotics by rheumatologist but I think your GP may be able to refer you drectly.

Wearing one side of the heel is perfect;y normal - depends how much and where you wear it. Most common cause of foot pain is the shoes to wear most of the time ( not necessaruly the ones to wear running). I have had to switch to sensible shoes because my feet hurt too much not too these days.

£100... bloody hell...
do you think I need to go to the
doctors, oestopath or chiropodist for advice then..

I think you need a podiatrist. I have gone private but that was expensive. Because of my job I walk alot so could get help from NHS going to collect my insoles next week. I'm hoping it will work and I can return to running.

I used to get terrible ankle and back pain just from walking around. I went to see a podiatrist and he did all sorts of stretches with my feet, watched me walk on a treadmill etc. I now wear orthotics every day. Without them, my back starts to ache after about an hour. With them in, I'm absolutely fine.

Mine were very expensive, because my arches had dropped completely and I need extra strong ones! I think they were about £140.00. However, if you consider that I have worn them every day for the last 4 years, they actually a complete bargain.

My podiatrist is private, so you just phone up and make an appointment. No idea if you can see one on the NHS though - probably worth seeing your GP to find out.
