Another attempt for consistency on my yoga practice. Huge benefits when I do ,the accountability on previous threads has helped tremendously. But I’ve lapsed, and can feel the stiffness creeping back. Any support welcome

Lymph then Day 10. YWA Pick me up practice 13 mins. This was an energising little pop, started with 2 rounds of Kapalabhati breath, always a winner with me. There was an interesting star/warrior 2 flow after some jumping. Great little practice definitely going to favourites for those low but need some energy days

I enjoy classes that start with breathing exercises. When i was in my 20s (50 now) classes use to last 1hr30 and therr was always some breathing at first and some inversions. Nowadays the classes tend to be shorter at the expense of breathing and inversions… it is a shame… (but also very practical too!!)
I am away and mainly working on my tan!! I was planning to do the videos on demand but can’t be bothered so just a few sun salutations and some moves that prepares for tricky inversions(thanks to IG)

@Placestogo enjoy your holiday! I think specific breathwork in yoga has somewhat fallen by the wayside in favour of asana practice. I practice yoga at home because I can’t commit to driving to and from a class let alone a 90 min class, that would be most of my morning gone. Small but often is what I’m striving for. My very first yoga teacher told me a few sun salutes a day will serve you well.
Annoyingly another pain day ,managed a 5 min yoga chill for day 11. .only managed that in the evening but it helped a bit.

I am very sorry to hear about your persistent pain @Yogachick
well done for staying consistent- for me, this is the hardest, still doing something when everything looks hard.
i did some hip flexors exercises today (instagram) as well as a couple of sun salutations.

Yogachick · 10/08/2026 18:21

Well done @Placestogo , hip flexors and sun salutations on holiday!
Day 12 8 mins of yoga for people who sit all day, because that’s all I’ve been doing. Improved today, sometimes it just slowly recedes and other times it’s like a switch has been turned & am back to normal. I’ll take whichever😄

Day 13- YWA- Finding your centre from the calendar 18 mins. A little core work though when she says push your back foot into the mat it feels weird on my dodgy numb side, I have to guess I’m doing it😂 feeling almost normal today, huzzah!

Day 14 yesterday 21 morning yoga flow. Today was Dedicate day 21,Light for Day 15 .The thumbnail had skandasana on,which I love, this was on my watch list. Loved it so it will move to favourites. Knocking on heavens door, many wide legged forward folds ,love those and several skandasana. Dodgy leg went into cramp on the last one which was fun but apart from that 20 mins of joy.
Hope you’re still reading and being inspired @Pinkfluffypencilcase 💐

Hi, i hope everyone is doing well and managed to keep up some exercise despite the heatwave…
Pilates class today. Tomorrow will be yoga flow.

Yogachick · 15/08/2026 16:57

Enjoy Pilates @Placestogo !
Day 16, out super early this morning and I knew I would be tired when I got home so a surprising 5 min stretch on FWFG,offered a lot for a teeny practice,de clunked me for the morning😁

Day 17. Busy day again, got home from a very social day and remembered my streak so just did the garland pose tutorial practice from the calendar. 9 mins of that was nice I think I hold a lot of tension in my hips, especially after a lot of sitting.

After being mia for awhile I couldn’t sleep last night as I’m miserable after a break up.

I found a bedtime yoga routine by Adrienne. And I fell asleep!!

how is everyone ?

Placestogo · 17/08/2026 23:34

Sorry to hear you are feeling low @Pinkfluffypencilcase i try to look after myself when i feel down and yoga is one way to do that. Glad you were able to sleep
Today i did a pilate class in the morning and a yoga class in the evening. Tomorrow i have another pilate class booked. I have been thinking yoga is fun but maybe i should go out and see people more instead of being in the studio so much… so i have arranged lunch with a friend and a walk with another… trying to balance things out a bit…

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 17/08/2026 23:57

That’s what I’ve been doing seeing friends. Much more important than any man!

im normally a first thing when I wake up yoga person but think ill switch to bed time for now.

Yogachick · 18/08/2026 20:47

I’m glad you managed to sleep with Adriene’s assistance. Being well rested certainly helps the healing process @Pinkfluffypencilcase
Being naturally quite solitary I’m realising the benefits of spending time with other people. If they’re the good people they enrich your time @Placestogo Balance is sometimes hard to find when you’re really enjoying something, but other people can be so interesting, diversifying your time will help you appreciate your studio time as a contrast.
I skipped yesterday, almost deliberately, which meant I looked forward to yoga today. I did a cardio workout this morning to wake me up and balanced with Legs up the wall for Sleep from the calendar. Very very relaxing. I’m counting it as Day 18 for the month, trying to get past the ‘failure’ of missing a day

I read your post yesterday but did not reply. I have been thinking a lot about the “failure” of missing a day. It is very personal and the feeling of failure can mean different things for different people at different times.

To cut a long story short. I have decided to miss a day today and i may miss tomorrow as well (GCSE results day). I like your idea @Yogachick to long for yoga after holding off from it. The anticipation becomes part of the self care (for me, at this particular moment in my life). So thank you for planting the seed of an idea through the sharing of your experience. And i hope you can free yourself from the feeling of failure, by being kind to yourself.

Yogachick · 19/08/2026 19:02

@Placestogo I hope the exam results are what’s hoped for. Planning / accepting yoga free days is a healthy approach I’ve decided so go us!
I did a 39 min strength workout this morning. 30 mins is too long for that sort of workout for me, I had to go back to bed for a couple of hours before my bowls match this afternoon. Someone ,I think @yogaflow,though I could be miss remembering, said they can do no more than 20 mins of weights a couple of times a week without negative consequences. This is also me,proved time and time again, I just get over excited when I feel well and have some energy.
Anyway, I needed yoga for to try & reduce the inflammation so did Root practice from Adriene’s Light chakra series, one of her best series imho. 29 mins for Day 19

Thanks @Yogachick I’m still licking my wounds. But maybe I’m ready to rejoin society as I’m reading these posts yay

failure isn’t failure it’s just a step to success. As I tell my students. Tomorrow is going to be hectic!
