Whoop tracker

I’m been using Whoop fitness tracker thing for about three weeks and I’m just wondering if anyone else has one and how you have been finding it?

I’m finding it great overall so far but it is quite detailed in its analysis so I’m not certain I’m getting g the most out of it really, or whether I’m using it correctly.

I don’t like how demanding it is for me to commit to working out. I didn’t expect that before I bought it. I thought it would be quite passive and just log what I’ve done and how that affects my metrics. But this is constantly expecting me to train, to the point that it feels like the exercise I am doing is never enough. Like today, it has presented me with “non-negotiable: drink plenty of water and aim for an early boring night”. It just seems a bit rude!!

How much research did you do into this before getting the subscription? From what I’ve seen of DC’s and friends’, they are very analytical and appear to be aimed more at the high end athlete rather than a casual user. DC and friends are elite athletes though.
Apple is far more supportive than Garmin, there are groups dedicated to Garmin’s “unproductive” workout status!

I find Garmin a good way of tracking my fitness goals. I don't mind if it says Move when I'm already moving etc I just use it how I need to rather than let it dominate me. I like the challenges, I managed 300,000 steps in July for the first time, because I use it as a tracker for my steps and when it got to two days to go and I had to do 21,000 steps to get my goal, it was a great motivation to see I could do it if I set my mind to it.

that app you're using sounds too complicated!

Apple gives you a pat on the back just for standing up.

I don’t know much about whoop never looked into it as I know you have to pay a yearly subscription and that wasn’t for me. does sound a bit harsh though. Did you choose it because you’re very into fitness and work out a lot or compete at a high level in a sport? From what others have said maybe this is who they’re aimed at.

im a fairly committed runner, run about 40 miles a week, compete regularly and do fairly well at a local level, but by no means an elite athlete. I find garmin works well for my needs. It has all the stats I need and makes suggestions for workouts (which I mainly ignore and do what I like) but doesn’t feel demanding. I have actually managed to stay in the productive zone for about 2 months now! But I take it all with a pinch of salt anyway.
