Has anyone found a home exercise bike useful with a toddler?

36 years old, SAHM. Used to work out fairly regularly, March this year ran my first ever half marathon, then got pregnant straight after. Since then, haven't moved much. I try to get in at least 8000 steps a day, and twice a week cycle 8km doing daycare drop off/pick up. My son is 20 months old and gets under my feet if I try to do a home workout.

I have a super cheap gym membership but my nearest branch is a crappy gym, with just a couple of weight machines, a treadmill that's only good for walking, and a currently broken exercise bike. I also can't go often because my husband works late most nights

I'm thinking of getting an exercise bike for my living room and just hopping on casually through the day to keep my movement up. I feel this would be safer and more effective than a walking pad, especially as I can dial up the resistance and strength train my legs a bit.

Do you have one? Do you use it? Or has it become just something to stub your toe on?

Only if your toddler can’t possibly get caught on it- fingers in moving wheels, climb on pedal it moves and they fall and hurt themselves, so this probably won’t work.

id quite like a treadmill but apart from size and cost, I need my dc to be older as it’s not safe.

I’ve got a nice picture of my daughter sitting on it but that is about all the use it got.
However I was not into fitness before hand, so I am not the best person to ask.

I am a bit worried about this. Especially little fingers getting caught in a flywheel. Not so worried about the fall risk as he falls off stuff all the time and it's done him no harm so far 😅

I have a peloton (and toddler) I use it every day and couldn’t be without it! I initially had a cheaper one but it kept breaking with the amount of use it got but may be worth trialling a cheaper one first! So worth it

Yes definitely but I’d get a peleton type bike rather than a standard exercise bike. I have a few friends with young kids who use these regularly at home.

The model I'm looking at isn't quite Pelaton level but it does look pretty sturdy with good levels of resistance. I'm hoping it will help because summers here in Japan can be really brutal. Right now it's rainy season so I'm getting my steps in with an umbrella, but pretty soon the temperatures will be in the 30s every day with high humidity and strong sun, and I won't want to drag myself and toddler around.
