Advice on building from a sub-30 parkrun to a 10k

To my surprise I am now running park run under 30 mins when I thought id never run again. I have a naturally fused ankle so need to watch that.
Madly im thinking of a 10k. In nine months time, any advice on taking things up to that distance.

Do you run just the park run or do you add in other 5ks throughout the week? When I went from 5k to 8,10,12 etc I just let running on runs I’d started where I intended to do a 5k, so it would occasionally be 6k, or 7..
I was also doing a CrossFit type session 3x a week so my overall fitness was much better.
I quit the gym to exercise at home and still run, but I had slipped to about 5/6k now before I’m fighting for my life.
I know it was easier to run further because I was in better overall shape, better cardiovascular health, strength, core..

Congratulations, OP. Do 3 runs a week and enter some more local 5ks. One of your runs could be Park Run, another just a gentle run to turn your legs over and the third will be your 'long' run. Given your concerns over your ankle, build up your long run by half a mile each week until you are running 6 miles. You are then ready for a 10k. You won't know what your ankle will tolerate until you try. Your easy run should be at the pace you can hold a conversation without getting out of breath. Good luck!
