How often and how much does it cost?

I'm in north Essex.

Have lost weight but need to tone up.

I hate gyms, and classes where I don't know anyone, so thinking a 121 trainer might be the best way.

Also, how soon would I notice results?

Thanks all!

I had a PT for two years. I paid for a course of 20 sessions, upfront, which was £700 and I had two sessions a week. Prices will vary but this was South East Essex.

There’s no such thing as “toning up”. It’s building muscle. This takes a long time and you need to be consistent. I no longer use the PT as I was confident in my own abilities after seeing him, and wanted the flexibility of being able to train when I wanted to. I’m 2.5 years into training and still building muscle now. It takes a lot longer than you think, but the benefits of weight training are amazing and you’ll notice how good it makes you feel. You will also need to concentrate on nutrition, sleep, water intake etc to get the best out of it.

Thanks @IwanttoWFH that's really useful. Not cheap but it sounds like good value if you are still benefiting from it all these years later!

Do you still attend a gym? Or do you exercise at home?

Is building muscle not the same as toning up? What I meant was, to not have so many wobbly bits, despite my weight being ok.

You’re welcome. It’s definitely not cheap but really valuable. Especially if, like me, you have no idea what to do on the gym.

I go to a gym now but on my own. I do one weight training session, one body pump class and Pilates every week.

When people say “I want to tone up” this means they want to look lean, which equates to losing body fat and building muscle. Having muscle will give you that streamlined look that people think is “being toned” :-)
