Cycling-induced haemorrhoids

I’ve always cycled. 15 yrs ago developed piles after first pregnancy. Lately, riding a bike seems to have brought them on again and I can’t understand why.
I have a touring bike with a fairly squidgy saddle and have cycled no more than 14 miles in one day so we are not talking anything extreme.
I treated the first bout at the end of March with Anusol, then didn’t cycle for a few weeks. Then back on the saddle last week, 6 miles and bingo: out pops the pile. I’m sore and it’s stinging.
Can anyone relate to this? Thanks

Ouch. Keen cyclist myself but not had this problem (although not had kids). Are you wearing cycling kit (specifically padded shorts) or regular clothes? I’ve always gone for a hard saddle with a large cut-out so that the only thing sitting on my saddle is my sit bones.

@PauliesWalnutsthanks I can picture the type of saddle you mean. I’m going to have to look into it. It’s never been an issue until now, so needs must 😬 I have got a coccyx injury too so probably the whole area is troubled!

Oh you poor thing. Have a look on EBay - saddles are a really tricky thing to sort so people offload ones that don’t work for them. I like the Selle Italia women’s cut out ones - they are also handy if you’re an “outie” like me (and around 50% of women) rather than an “innie” if you catch my drift! Also check that your saddle isn’t too low and putting pressure on your insides or pelvic floor.

@PauliesWalnutsthank you so much. I’ll have a look
