DD has taken up running, does a 5K a couple of times a week. Is there a good watch for speed/distance/time etc ?

A Garmin Forerunner 45s is what I have and does everything I need it for. It's at the lower price point for Garmin watches but I'm sure it'll be enough for her. I've been running over 10 years and very happy with mine. It measures pace, distance, times. Can also record bike rides, walks, cardio, etc. Links to be phone via Bluetooth so I can see notification of emails, messages etc if I need to.

Another vote for Garmin Forerunner. I upgraded from 55 to 255 at one point and like the extra lifestyle/ health stats and details but the 45/55/65 entry level series are good performers for casual runners.

Another vote for Garmin. I've got a Venu (original model and I've had it for years so it's long superseded by newer versions) but I can't fault it. I've got a Venu because it has good functionality for strength training and you can also listen to music from your watch rather than phone (I hate low phone battery) but doesn't sound like you need that. Forerunner sounds perfect.

I recommended Garmin to my sister for running and she also went for a forerunner. She was always an Apple watch user now she's a Garmin convert.

Garmin do good entry level watches, you can’t really go wrong. If you are thinking about a level or two up from the basic, I’d recommend Coros over Garmin - great features, cheaper than equivalent levels of Garmin, and incredible battery life.

As other have said the garmin forerunner watches are great. I have the 265 but it sounds like the 55 would more than meet your dds needs. You can get it for less than £100 if you have a blue light card or know someone who does.

if she wants something that looks a bit smarter and less like a running watch then the garmin vivoactive may suit but it’s a bit more pricy and as she’s only just taken it up I’d probably not want to splash out too much until you’re sure she’ll keep it up.

Thanks for this, I got it with the discount.
