Dumbell exercise but no workout

Hi

I need some advise please. I need to do some form of exercise for weight loss but have no motivation. I am perimenopausal...feel tired all the time and I know doing exercise especially weight training will help.
I want to ask is it okay to do a couple of sets of dumbell exercises (4 or 5 min) several time a day rather than doing a 30 or 40 min workout because that takes all motivation away. What is your advice and experience regarding this?

It’s beneficial to your overall health, doing multiple short workouts, but may not help with weight loss. You have to do an awful lot to burn a few calories and, I hate to say it but, the most effective way to lose weight is through diet.

yep, you don’t have to do it all in one session at all. It’s the workload that matters, spread it over as long a period as you like. But diet is the only quick way really, stop eating carbs.

Google exercise snacking. It is a thing with its own benefits

Weight loss is achieved through eating less on daily basis.
Exercise is mainly for improving your cardiovascular health but doesn't really help for losing weight as you are building muscle which is heavier than fat.

Weight training is beneficial in fighting osteoporosis as you get older especially after the menopause when bone density declines.

Smaller plates, smaller portions are the easiest way to lose weight.
Personally, I skip breakfast - it's not the most important meal of the day for adults unless you're doing manual labour.
That knocks about 500 calories off your intake per day so you lose about 1lb a week depending on how overweight you are to begin with.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I am focusing on diet...the biggest hurdle is night time craving..I think I need to up my protein and see how it goes.
