Cross training shoes

I’m trying to exercise again,I’m doing a Jessica Smith rotation ,if anyone is familiar. There’s metabolic conditioning, weights, interval training which I would need trainers for. I used to run so have always had running shoes but physio says low impact only now as I have a prolapsed disc. I’ve turned 60 so want the strength training as well now. I’ve read somewhere running shoes are not great for side to side movements, which there seems to be quite a bit of so if anyone does a variety of classes/workouts have you shoe recommendations please? I used to wear Saucony Omni Guide, which I loved, for my slight over pronation, high instep & slightly wide feet . There’s gait analysis for running shoes but I can’t find anything for cross training so I’m appealing to the hive mind!

I like Nike metcons and also the Reebok nanos. The Reebok nanos slightly better for running as the metcons are very flat but you have to wear higher socks with them as the heel can rub with ankle socks.

edit as you say you don’t want to run! Sorry I do weights with sprint intervals which is why I mentioned running. If you just want weights then the metcons are great.

Hi everyone!
I’ve already tried two types of running shoes, but I’m still looking for something very soft and comfortable for running. Do you have any recommendations for shoes with really good cushioning?
Thanks!

For running shoes, I’d always recommend visiting a specialist running shop. Be prepared to invest a good hour or more and £120+.

Try on loads and work out what you prefer. I like the Nike Pegasus for running, if there’s an outlet store near you and you aren’t bothered about the colour you can get a good deal.

Agree Nike metcons or reebok nanos. Both good for lifting and nice and wide toe boxes.

I also have metcons and nanos. Nanos are good for wide feet and u prefer them to the metcons. If you are not bothered about having the latest version you can pick them up fairly cheap
