Runners with wideish feet

What are your road running shoes of choice? I’ve tried a few but not found my favourites yet. I would like fairly light weight but bouncy, I think I’m a neutral gait runner.

I have wideish feet and like asics novablast 5s. I have a pair that I do most of my training runs in and I’ve just brought another for when they wear out.

Conversely I found the Novablasts really narrow and I don’t even have especially wide feet! Funny how we’re all so different, which shows just how essential a proper gait analysis and fitting is OP - I would seek out your local independent running store.

Altras. Ridiculously comfortable. I used to wear Brooks Ghost but they seem to have changed the last recently.

I have wide forefeet and normal/narrow heels and ankles. I haven't bought running shoes for ages but the brands and models that worked best for me were Innov8 road shoes (lightweight but possibly not as bouncy as you like, OP) and New Balance - whichever ones are currently neutral and lightweight (maybe the Rebel?). I used to like the -90 series and picked up a few pairs of 590s for pennies in TK Maxx before I had two children and found myself with a bit less time for running, hence why I don't need new ones. Anyway, the really important thing for me is to relace the shoes to allow more space at the front while being able to tighten enough around the ankle. If you google 'lacing patterns for wide feet' you should get some ideas about what might work for you.

That’s interesting. I have found them to be wide in the toe box but narrower at the heel, which suits me perfectly.

it def highlights the important of trying the shoes on before you buy them. What suits one person may not suit you. Go to a running Ning shop OP and try some shoes out.

Mizuno Wave Ultima are quite wide and suitable for neutral gait.

I have flippers for forefeet (E/EE width) and these are comfortable.

Asics Novablast. Generous toebox, bouncy light and fun ride for everyday runs.

Thanks so much for all your suggestions. I've ordered a pair of wide fit Brooks Ghost from the Brooks website purely because of the 90-day satisfaction thing and if they don't work out then I'll try some of the other shoes listed! I have tried SO many shoes along the years, and my feet are notoriously difficult - some shoes start off fine and then end up giving me black toenails from my toes hitting the top. Or rubbing somewhere else!

For trail running I love my Saucony Peregrines and the Saucony Endorphin Speed work well for my faster runs.

That suggests to me that you need to size up, and try lacing your shoes differently.

Saucony in general, Hoka Clifton, and Altras. With the latter, be aware of the minimal footwear approach designed to make your feet work. Not just the low/no drop height but also less arch support. They’re a great shoe but you might need to gradually increase your use

Sent the Brooks back as they were rubbing on my first run, across the top of the foot. Got a pair of Saucony Ride from Vinted and absolutely love em!

New Balance Fresh Foam X 1080 in a wide fit. I’m on my second pair and they’re great!
