Best all round running trainers?

I'm looking for a new pair of running trainers and I'm stumped for what to get.
I currently have a pair of Nike React Escape, and a pair of Nike Pegasus - both bought at an outlet store to keep me going.

I'm looking at getting a good all rounder, I currently do an average of 15 miles per week so not a high mileage runner. I do a mixture of shorter easy runs, long runs and some speed work.

I get some ankle pain (front inner edge) towards the end of my long runs which I think is due to poor cushioning or technique.

I'm looking for a good all rounder, good cushioning, wider toe box. I have high arches if that makes any difference.

Any suggestions? 😊

Get yourself to an independent sports shop and get fitted properly. A good place will watch you on a treadmill and try you with a few different pairs.

I’d agree with getting fitted but I like Brooks Ghost. I have high arches.

You need to take time and try on several pairs, what suits my feet could be entirely awful on yours

We have an independent store in town that does gait analysis so I think i might head in tomorrow as a first port of call. I have the NB fresh foam, and 1080s on mt list. I did like initial reviews for Asics Super Blast but then some others I've read have said they're like running on bricks so I've scrapped them for now. I think the store I'm planning to visit have brooks as one of their brands too!

I love my asics novablast 5s. I just went for gait analysis as wanted to try some different styles to make sure I wasn’t missing out on something great in another shoe. I tried on loads of different shoes and ended up buying a second pair of novablasts. I’ve used my first pair for long runs, speed work, easy runs and races.

I did also buy a pair of saucony endorphin speed 5s which I’m going to use for racing and track now. But still wanted some more novablasts to train in as the other neutral shoes I tried just weren’t doing it for me in the same way.

I run 30-40 miles a week but some of that will be in my trail shoes, probably around 20-25 miles in my road shoes.

Same here, I'm on pairs 4 & 5. I have high volume, xxxx wide feet in need of support.

Although I'm not enamoured on the V14, and have found a reduced pair of V13s online which I got on better with to move on to.

The V14 seems to angle in slightly on my big toe, and I've had persistant niggles that haven't shifted since I got them (they did start when the old V13s were aging). Unfortunately the V14s were the least-worst shoes on offer in the shop (specialists who know their stuff, but they can only sell shoes that exist, which will always be a problem until my actual shoe size is invented!)

I was a big fan of NB 860 Women’s for a while, then somewhere around V8, moved to Brooks’ Adrenaline. Wore them for years, but went rogue and bought some Hoka Skyflows last year. But all were fittef and tried on a treadmill etc.

Thanks everyone, I went for the gait analysis today and was amazed at the difference when comparing the images/video of my own shoes to the recommended ones. I went with the recommended Soucony Guide 18 - I will be testing them out tomorrow when the weather is cooler! Still eyeing up the NB though 😆

That's interesting. My current ones are the v14s and I feel like the toe box is wider than the previous versions. Just goes to show how individual it is.
