I'm approaching 60 & know i need to start doing something, preferably at home.
Have done a few of Joe Wicks menopause workouts which I like - any reccomendations for simple, easy & short (20min ish) workouts I could do on YouTube? Looked at Caroline Girvan but thry look pretty tricky.
Bonus points if they're free@
Thanks

Fitbymik. Really gentle pace but so so effective and roughly 20 to 30 minutes. She has alot of content too.

I like fitbymik as well

Also Kayleigh Cohen strength

To start with, I actually wouldn't even go with 20 mins, I would do 10-15 and really go for it.

Growingannanas - HIIT with and without dumbbells.

Start with low weights - 3kg - and work your way up

Work on your core, which is vital. Daily planks and abs work.

i don’t think anyone should use weights without at least a few sessions with a PT

people have no idea what they are doing. They swing dumbbells using momentum instead of engaging muscles and wonder why they see no change. They go up in weights thinking they are getting stronger but they are just getting better at swinging the weight. They put strain on their lower back instead of engaging their core. They have no idea what angle they should be holding weights and just lift things in weird ways that make it all just a cardio exercise. Not a strength training exercise.

you’re better off either having half a dozen sessions at a gym with a PT first or do calisthenics which can be made increasingly difficult but less likely to damage yourself or do ineffectually

I’d definitely suggest a couple of sessions with someone who can walk you through how to lift safely. Most gyms have someone who can do a couple of one off sessions.

Sally Gunnell has some great post on fb, really easy and accessible.

I’d also suggest some time with a Personal Trainer, our council gym does sessions so it doesn’t have to be expensive. Also highly recommend Pilates if you don’t have a strong core already, I found a really good teacher and the classes use a lot of body weight exercises.
