I always have to go up a full size in sports trainers compared to normal shoes so I'd look at 2.5 or 3 if I were you. Some brands do a small selection of kids sizes which might suit or you should be able to pick up some bargains in the womens section. If you want support then look at those that are classed as "moderate support" Womens Road Running Shoes | SportsShoes

DD’s first ‘adult’ i.e non kids section running shoes were a UK 1.5 so they are made in your size. Avoid kids options as they aren’t designed with an adult in mind and aren’t made the same.

I appreciate these options are quite expensive but they are a UK 2.5 and might be a good place to start so you have makes and models to search and see if they are available anywhere in a size 2 https://www.sportsshoes.com/products/womens/running?page=1

I'm a size 2 but stupidly wide so end up wearing wide size 5s for width for running. I'm used to footwear being an inch too long!

Children's shoes are a false economy. I weigh twice as much as a typical child of my shoe size, and I don't grow out of them in a few months so I put on a lot more wear and tear than children's footwear is designed for and my joints notice easily.

The good bit is that when I go to the specialist running shop, they often have a suitable old season shoe left in smaller sizes which I can get reduced, so that's a handy strategy.

Otherwise it's a PITA trying to find well made footwear smaller than size 4.

I've got wide feet and I'm a size 3 and have new balance which I really like.

Although, I spend most of my time barefoot, so my most comfortable shoes are rocket dog plimsolls and vivobarefoot leather boots - also both available down to the small sizes.

I do agree that when it comes to trainers, don't buy kids, as they're just not built for adult weight unfortuntately, but, if you just want something good and cheap and your feet aren't wide, decathlon is the place.

I'm a 1.5 but find that I can get away with 3s in some trainers/walking shoes.and remember that your feet will likely get a bit bigger during your pregnancy. When I used to run I wore Saucony or Asics trainers or there were a few New Balance styles that weren't too bad a fit. Some brands size 3 is actually a European 35 so more like a 2.5. Skechers also have some small sizes. My current "every day" shoes are Skechers Bobs in a 2 and they fit me perfectly. I've not tried any of their trainers that might be suitable for actually exercising in though. I also have some mountain warehouse kids walking shoes that are a 34 and fit me well.
I agree with the PP who said that children's shoes can be false economy as they are often "lookalikes" without the technical specifications of an adult trainer and they're certainly not designed for someone of an adult weight, but I have found the kids walking shoes from outdoor brands to be reasonably good, though they do wear out more quickly than the adult equivalent.

Asics are good for support and come in all sizes.

PorgyandBess · 23/05/2025 14:40

I’m a 3 (despite being 5’8). I go up to a 4 in trainers and wear thick sports socks. ASICS suit me best and I’ve bought them for years.

UpsideDownChairs · 23/05/2025 16:42

yes, I forgot asics - until I found the extra wide new balances, asics were my go-to

MadKittenWoman · 23/05/2025 17:38

I'm a 34 / 1 1/2 and find that Skechers size 2 OR 3 can fit. I have some great gold ones! I know they come in for a lot of criticism but I don't know why.
