Runners stomach or shellfish issues

I'm on holiday at the moment in England but obviously it's warm. I had a much bigger breakfast than usual. Eggs Benedict and fruit rather than overnight oats. Then I had a shellfish platter for lunch. Lots of walking today. Then a 5 mile run. About 40 minutes after the run I had an upset tummy. I then went for dinner and this evening I have had two more upset tummy. A little more loose each time.
I'm wondering if it's runner's tummy or a shellfish allergy. I'm feeling very slightly sick too.
Last time I was on holiday here too I almost repeat the same day with the same result. I have shellfish at home, but usually not all the types together and such a big portion.
I've got a long drive tomorrow to see a relative in hospital lot's of huge roads through London I don't know

You're out of routine, and eating out more, so it doesn't sound like runner's stomach to me. That usually happens on the run itself or immediately after, but not repeatedly.

I reckon the shellfish may be the culprit and it's good poisoning.

Avoid shellfish and stick to plainer foods for now. Make sure you're well hydrated as well. Hope you feel better soon.

It's a big jump from a dodgy prawn to assuming you're allergic! Shellfish can be home to harmful bacteria, and if they're not prepared and stored correctly can make you sick. You're almost certainly not allergic to them.

Sorry food poisoning not "good poisoning"!

Sounds more like a richer diet than your guts are used to, and been out in the sun a long time, given yourself a bit of an upset and possibly mild sunstroke. Both my kids have a tendency to diarrhoea when they are already dehydrated from doing too much sport on hot days

Shellfish allergy tends to be anaphylactic type and even if not, the symptoms will usually appear much quicker than several hours later. If it was anything to do with that, it would be more likely food poisoning than allergy.

Drink plenty, rest and stay out of the sun.

Some people have intolerance to molluscs but fine with crustaceans or vice versa 🦞

I’ve had ‘runners tummy’ a while after the run, eg when it’s hot, after eating rich food.

Thanks. I'm thinking it was the heat yesterday was the main culprit. Lot's of walking and then the run! Touch wood I've not had any more upset tummy this morning. Just feeling a little tired and and a little sick feeling.

Eggs and salmon for breakfast as the hotel only does egg based breakfasts along with lots of sweet treats 🤣🤣.

Also no sun today it's dropped in temperature by 6c and is very grey?

I’d have thought if the shellfish were off you’d REALLY know it

My tolerance to fish and shelfish isn't great. I tend to only have them if I know I'll be conveniently near a toilet during the next hour or so. I have several low or intolerances to various foods.

It's not food poisoning, it flushes through too quickly and I'm not ill with it, and has happened too frequently. Once it's flushed through, the cramping stops and I'm fine again.

I have had rapid response food poisoning from something else, and paid for that for two weeks after. The Campylobacter (not sure what from) was a week of only shifting from bed for absolute essentials.

Running after different foods to usual can have side effects.
