Hi, been running for a while now and have really suffered them shin splints again and again. It's been months! Honestly struggling as I keep having to stop running and lose progress. Do I need to see a physio? When should I see one? Any good ones to recommend if so?

I went to True Physio (linked below) the other week and would definitely recommend. Sorted me right out and at a low price. Where abouts are you based? They have clinics in the North of England.

Oh nice! Just saw they have a clinic down the street from where I live, thank god. Thanks for this, I'll check them out.

See a Physio!!!!!

They will look at your alignment & gait.

They will teach you the stretches you can & should do. You must stretch!

They will give advice on strengthening & mobilising hips, knees & ankles.

They will give advice on your running style.

They may even make recommendations about the kind of shoes you should wear.

I have tried seeing one and they weren't helpful. Just said to stop running and get wide fit shoes... Do you know if all physios are like that? How do I find a good one?

Where are you based? My physio runs and is always determined to keep me exercising.

New trainers after testing gait, I get shin splints when my shoes are knackered

Also best let your legs recover properly before restarting

Went for a short 20 min run on the treadmill just this Saturday and am pretty sure it's a stress fracture because I failed the hopping test, i.e. can't hop on one leg at all. Hurts to get down the stairs or put any full body weight on it. Would say pain is about 6-7/10. Explains why it's been bugging me for at least the last 6 weeks.

Edited

That sounds worse than just shin splints.

I've got them really bad in my right shin. They can be incredibly painful but I've never not been able to bear weight.
