What to wear after swimming

outofofficeagain · 17/02/2025 20:25

I'm a member of a gym and swim 3 times a week.

I hate the changing rooms and generally being wet (although I enjoy swimming).

What can I wear that I can just throw on afterwards and drive home.

It needs to look like clothes, in case I need to nip to supermarket on the way home.

I realise the answer is tracksuit' but all suggestions gratefully received

I can't stand trying to get trackies or leggings on after swimming as no matter how dry I think I am, I'm just not!
So I've started wearing a long boho style skirt with elasticated waist so I can pull it over my head to avoid the wet floor, T-shirt, hoodie, no socks as I have a battle with them as well and crocs.
I never stop off on the way home though!

I like hareem pants, T shirt, hoody and sliders

In winter I wear leggings/sweater/crocs and a large coat which makes me look like an escapee from the Adam’s family, in summer it’s a very loose dress or skirt with a t shirt over the top and crocs. I do occasionally do an aldi/co-op shop on the way home or via the petrol station, so I try not to be too scary, although my hair always manages to do that for me.

There is a marker opportunity here.

I love seeing the little children go home in their pyjamas after evening swimming lessons.

I wish I had the nerve to do the same

outofofficeagain · 17/02/2025 21:27

I would love that. Although I like to have a shower when I get in and then pyjamas, so it would ruin it a bit.

Wide leg joggers so I’m not fighting damp feet through a cuffed ankle and a loose knitted jumper as they don’t feel as clingy and damp as a sweatshirt

outofofficeagain · 17/02/2025 21:29

I need some crocs don't I.

Harem or plisse trousers, or a long skirt. The first time I went for a swim at my gym I'd arrived wearing super tight sucky in leggings- foolish. I fought with them for about 15 minutes, and managed to smack myself in the face while yanking them up my damp legs. Never again!

Crocs are great- sliders are slightly more appealing.

Blairwitch82 · 17/02/2025 21:45

Joggers and crocs!

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 17/02/2025 21:46

Yes crocs are fab for this. They do the toe post flip flops for summer, I wear the lite riders 3/4 of the year- a slightly(?) more grown up and stylish looking, even though no one notices. Have seen adults go home in those oodie onesies….

Namechangeforthis88 · 17/02/2025 21:49

This used to come up on my feed all the time: https://www.quikdri.co.uk/the-tracksuit/

Sallysoup · 17/02/2025 21:53

I bought a hooded towel like an oodie. I chuck it on after swimming and dry in a few minutes, and use my microfiber towel to dry the bottom of my legs and feet. Game changer.

I also have a really stretchy wide leg jumpsuit from Cider that I can chuck on and zip up and doesn't cling.

Gymmum82 · 17/02/2025 21:54

A dry robe and crocs. Don’t stop on the way home

letthemeatcakes · 17/02/2025 22:01

Shorts and a t shirt

lifehappens12 · 17/02/2025 22:01

Loose maxi dress. When I used to take my baby or toddler swimming much easier to throw a loose dress on try to get into trousers

Hoolihan · 17/02/2025 22:08

Joggers, tshirt, sweatshirt, sliders. Don't bother with underwear.

Backhometothenorth · 17/02/2025 22:11

I used to worry about this then swapped supermarket stop to on the way to the gym. Take a freezer bag. Now go home in whatever I like!

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 17/02/2025 22:41

Swimzi

BogRollBOGOF · 18/02/2025 14:48

Harem pants, baggy t-shirt.
I'm lucky that bra-wrestling is not obligatory!
Sandals unless it's lashing with rain

Moveoverdarlin · 18/02/2025 14:49

Jeans and leggings are a no no, but wide legged track or bottoms are ideal. So not those with a cuff at the bottom.

EarlierDistraction · 18/02/2025 15:07

A long loose tee shirt dress and crocs in summer. Harem pants and a loose tee shirt and birkenstock sheepskin clogs in winter. Walk half a mile each way so just going in an oodie type towel (which I do use for beach changing) isn't an option I'd feel too silly.

LazyDoll77 · 25/02/2025 18:15

I (outdoor) swim a lot and throw on yoga pants or Hush joggers rolled up at the bottom with a hoodie (and tons of layers) with either socks and sliders, or flip flops but I love the sound of those sheepskin Birkenstocks!!

Runingoncaffeine · 25/02/2025 18:18

Baggy joggers, loose tshirt (omit the bra) and an oversized hoody or jumper on top!

fabletics do some great joggers as does sweaty betty… comfy and easy to get on post swim x

swore I’d never wear Crocs but eying these up as a more affordable apres swim B’stock alternative!
