Good grip trainers

Any recommendations? I already have Hoka for running. But they're a bit slippy in gym studio for doing planks etc. they'd need some cushioning for aerobics classes too

You need non grippy trainers for things like that, you don’t want to be sticking to the floor, it can result in injury. With running you’re moving in one direction, with classes etc it’s all kinds of directions and your shoe needs to be able to adapt without sticking.
check out Nike Metcons, they’re a do it all gym trainer, and will show you the kind of sole you should look for. There are other gym trainers with more cushioning.

Thanks. Trouble is the issue I'm having is when I am doing press ups/planks my feet sometimes slip a bit and it means I can't hold them. For the rest of gym I'm fine

I get that, the stronger your core gets from planking the less this will happen (apologies I’ve no idea what level of gym experience you have). Put a mat under your feet and invert your toes slightly so you’re not just on the ends of them.
Hope you find some shoes that work for you

I have a very strong core. Have been doing gym/planks etc for years. Just I find Hokas seem more slippy than other trainers. It could be the mat I guess. But even when I put my feet on the floor they slip. So annoying. Doesn't happen when I do Pilates bare foot or when I'm at home. Must be the shoes?!

Before Hoka I had new balance. But again mainly for running. Just wondering if anyone can recommend bodyweight/pump type classes trainers. Although also do mixed aerobics/bums/tums tyoe. May be asking the impossible!

Hokas are just shite imo. They're the Marmite of running shoes for a reason.

I never buy gym-specific shoes as think it's a waste of money; so always use my old Nike Pegasus in the gym once they've got too many running miles on them. Never had an issue with slipping.

I appreciate both of the Nike recommendations

I was doing weighted sumo squats today and it felt like my feet were slipping a bit in the Hoka. Not sure if it was in my head or not though as I've lost confidence in the grip.

The Nike look good but so expensive and I won't be able to return if I realise they also slip 🙈 I'm going to ask around at gym too

I do Hyrox training and Puma nitro deviate have a fabulous grip. Plus can be used as running trainers. I wouldn’t do my barbell / lifting in them as not flat

I have a pair of Innov-8 F-lites which are a minimalist shoe, mainly for weight lifting as they give you a more stable base than a squishy running trainer. They're fine for planks and bodypump type exercises and I wear them for spin / cycling and on the cross traine as they're all no impact, but I wouldn't wear them for anything that involves jumping around!

Thanks both. I ended up buying some Nike in the sale! Grip fine on those so I assume it's just that Hoka have minimal grip as meant for running

I'm book marking this thread so when I have some good options for next pair (never last long do they!)
