Maintaining/developing routine after C25k

I'm coming up to the end of the couch to 5k programme - loved it, really surprised myself with how far I've come and feel much stronger and fitter.

I'm thinking of downloading Strava once I have finished to track my runs and start developing goals - I'd like to get to running to 10k eventually and was tentatively going to aim for a proper 10k run next October with my sister who is pretty into running.

Does anyone have experience using Strava and setting themselves goals? For example if you wanted to get from running 5k to 6k, how did you know when to push yourself onwards, what sort of timeframe would you give yourself to try and move ahead? Thanks!

Have you had a Google for 5k to 10k plans? There are quite a few out there.
How many times a week are you running? From what I remember I think you look at adding about ten percent each week.
I try and run three times per week
(I am the master of gaining distance, stopping running for a while and having to start again from a shorter distance and build up again)
So I would do a gentle 5k, a longer distance and a fast or hilly 4k.
Once I had a decent distance on my longer one I would also steadily up the other two runs.

Forgot to add, well done on the C25k.
You could get to 10k well before October 😁

Thank you! I am currently running 2-3 times a week. I'll look into the 5k - 10k plans but the idea of adding 10% each week sounds interesting and your running routine sounds good - nice and sensible but a challenge! I love in a very hilly area though so I'd have to plot my routes very carefully!
