Best gym for teens

Can anyone recommend gyms where teens can use the equipment?

I'm really struggling to find it in the small print and so far David Lloyd is the only one coming up as a definite yes for me although still a little vague about how much access they have.

Ideally I'd like somewhere a little cheaper and closer to home.

Thanks

Our leisure centre lets teens in.

Define "teens" because there's going to be a difference between 13, 16 and 18!
Pure Gym is 16 but not allowed to attend classes. Our Membership Terms & Conditions | PureGym
Our local council allows under 16 in the gym so long as they've done their "accreditation" training course first and again, not allowed in classes.
Village hotels allow 14-15 year olds so long as they are accompanied by an adult.

She's 13.

Our leisure centre is 14 unfortunately.

Thanks

My DS is 12 and goes to junior gym at Better Leisure.

Our local council gyms are run by Better and they have specific supervised Junior Gym sessions for 11-16 year olds which are supervised by people who can help them with the machines etc. I don’t know what their policy is outside those sessions though.

I reckon your local council run gym is probably your best bet.

Do you have a Better Gym near you? They have junior memberships with restricted hours from 12 years

David lloyd allow fairly relaxed access once over 14 and they can book most classes. There is some stuff for younger kids but it's limited. They can also use the pool from age 10 unaccompanied if they pass a "shark test". My local Better centre also has teen gym sessions

You might be best listing the gyms that are close by, and see if anyone has any experience.

At 13, it may be tricky - might she like martial arts as a stop gap? They often have excellent youth programmes, encourage independence and self-discipline, the older/more experienced ones are expected to take responsibility, and the classes often involve a lot of fitness (boxing certainly does). Some community gyms also run classes for that age group too, but again I don't think they'd let them train unsupervised.

I wouldn't go to a gym that allowed young teens to train unsupervised in a mainly adult setting to be honest - I don't think it would be safe. My son used the gym at our local leisure centre when he was about your daughter's age but he had to go to youth sessions, with helpful staff and closed to over 18s (or whatever).
