As per title really, looking for recommendations of beginner pilates videos to try! Preferably shorter in length, 20-30 mins as not got a lot of time around toddler and work. Thank you in advance

Try Kim Saha - lots of videos, all levels.

She used to be a physio for England Athletics and I think she's really good

Lindywell Pilates by Robin Long is excellent. Lots of short videos you can fit in round kids and work.

The Girl with the Pilates Mat, Rachel Lawrence. She gives really clear instructions.

I did one Lindywell workout where Robin mentioned she had 4 kids under 4 (including twins) at the time and it gave me the kick up the backside I needed to fit more movement into my life round the kids!

I use Jessica Valant pilates. The beginners one is only 15 minutes and I do it twice a week, it really has made a big difference.

LadeOde · 27/08/2024 13:51

Is there any particular part of your body you would like to strengthen?

Poggishairtufts · 27/08/2024 13:58

Seconding Jessica Valant

I've just discovered the NHS Pilates for Beginners vids and they are really good. They really do start with the basics and focus on form more than some the others I've tried - not very glamorous though!

zebranotzeebra · 27/08/2024 19:02

@LadeOde kind of all over really. I feel my core needs work after having my first baby and I'm also hoping to strengthen my legs because the pelvic health physio I saw recently said that would hopefully help me to avoid/minimise pelvic girdle pain in any future pregnancies. Just trying to do what I can before starting to TTC towards Christmas time!

Pelvic health and hips /legs health are VERY important especially as you will need the strength during pregnancy as your ligaments get softer and then as you get older they're the first to go again. Try this it looks simple but it is an amazing strength builder in both core and legs if you keep to it and do it regularly and consistently:

Lottie Murphy. She has a range of videos from beginner to advanced but it's pretty easy to sift through the ones that will work for your level.

@LadeOde thank you, that's really helpful.

For anyone interested - I did one of the Jessica Valiant 20 mins beginner videos this morning. Love all the modifications she gives, though was actually able to do most of the trickier variations so I'm chuffed with that! Really enjoyed it, excited to do more. Thanks to everyone for all the recommendations ☺️
