6 week group PT - expectations

I've just signed up to this at my gym.

If I'm 100% consistent with nutrition (this is included) and do all the sessions (one push pull, one legs, one conditioning), and maybe a couple of cardio sessions a week like spin and a swim...what results could I expect?

I'm 5.6 and just over 10.5 stone. I did 6 months of weight lifting last year and got to 200kg leg press so I do have a good amount of muscle mass, it's just now covered in a stone of body fat which I'd like to lose. In 6 weeks though I'm not going to train in a surplus am I? It will probably be training at maintenance calories or just under? Not sure what to expect but am looking forward to some accountability and getting back into weights as not been going. Will I be transformed to how I was last year in six weeks though?

It sounds to me that you need to take responsibility for doing what you want to do. No PT can transform you - that’s down to you. But in 6 weeks you could start to rebuild your fitness after not having done anything for 6 months.

But 6 weeks won’t “transform” you. It’ll start you off then you need to set in training as a consistent habit.

The main thing is consistency. So it’s worth thinking about why you got up to 200k on the leg press ( better to work on back squats), but then stopped.

I also got to 60kg squats. I was training 3x a week, one of which was with a PT. She did calories and macros and weekly check ins. All of that was good and I did it all consistently but I really struggled when we went into a calorie deficit phase. It was only dropping 100-150 calories for 8 weeks, maybe 200 calories toward the end.

It coincided with September when I always want to eat more and mentally it was really hard.

The last 2 weeks killed me. I told my trainer and she made a comment that I was hardly dropping calories at all and it was in my head. She was doing a cut at the time. I really found it hard at that point. It wasn't enjoyable and some nicer comments from her would have been good.

I then thought it would be goodgto go back to a grow phase but actually I just wanted a maintenance phase. Struggled to do anything and stopped going.

I'm hoping the group won't be so intense. I'm happy just to do it and follow everything but I'm going to have a snack if I want.

In terms of taking responsibility what I'd like to learn is how to adjust my own macros - how do you know when to increase you calories when training, or when to hold them? I always felt my trainer made changes a tiny bit later than I wanted. Is it just intuitive?
