Does spinning get more enjoyable?

I do a body pump, body conditioning and some cardio based workouts regularly. Loads of people have suggested I try spinning too.
I went for the first time this morning… popular instructor- I assume this means a good instructor.
It was hell. Hot, sweaty, pushing yourself to the max, then once you’re there, pushing yourself to the max again and again. I was literally watching the clock waiting for it to be over.
On the plus side, I’ve come out feeling tight around most of my upper leg area, and like I’ve burnt a ton of calories, so it obviously works.
Has anyone else felt similar after their first spin class and if so, does it get more enjoyable? Should I persevere?

Right, thank you all for your advice, but I am now almost certain it's not for me.

I've hated every second of every spin class I have ever done. I don't do it anymore! I do powerwave instead. Spinning and running are not my thing.

He blasted the music in the dark studio and stood at the front absorbing the music, arms out like Jesus Christ, in a huge sweat.

My genius instructor was a bit like that (except that he rode, not stood), but my metaphor for his passion was sex rather than religion. He seemed permanently building up to the point of orgasm and then dialling back, and I pictured him falling into his girlfriend's arms at the end of the day and having a fast, animal climax.

Spin is always hell, but that's what I want from an exercise class! Anything enjoyable or gentle doesn't do it for me.

Is Les Mills a name of a person? Or is it French as in Les?

I can't ask anyone in rl Blush

I will forever think of it as Les Mills with a French accent now. 😂

I'm the exact same!

I love it - usually do 2-4 classes pw

In my gym there’s 4/5 different instructors - only two I love, but I know others who prefer the ones I’m not keen on.

I do think it’s either for you or it isn’t, I’ve encouraged lots of friends to try it and some love it, some hate it!

I have been to spinning classes where new people have walked out half way through.

It’s definitely worth persevering with and becomes very addictive and hugely enjoyable. I do Les Mills Sprint which is tabata style, so intense but only 30 minutes.

I might miss other classes in the week, but I never miss the spinning ones.

Once your arse stops hurting. Yes! Clipping into the pedals helps massively too. It gives you much more pulling power on the pedals than just ramming your feet into the cage things. Just don't do what I did and end up clipping in and then getting well and truly stuck. I had to get the instructor to help me pull my foot out of my shoe and then unscrew it off the pedal rendering it useless afterwards. Oh and definitely don't wear them to walk across a wooden floor. I made that mistake 😅
