C25K for a second time!

I did C25K about ten years ago, and by the end I was regularly running 20-25k a week. I ran a 10k and a couple of half marathons and really enjoyed my running. Since having my eldest six years ago I haven't run at all and I'm really keen to get back into it. I've downloaded C25K again and plan to make a start at the weekend. Just wondering if there are others who have been in a similar position, and how you found it? Was it any easier getting up to 5k a second time around?!

I did c25k twice- once after each baby was old enough and I felt ready. It was absolutely fine and I did a half marathon a couple of months ago. You'll be great!

Thank you, that's encouraging! Did you do the whole programme the second time around or did you find you could work through it a bit more quickly / skip some of the early weeks?

First did C25k 10 years ago and then had to go back to it 2 years ago following injury and a couple of months running ban. Infact C25k was stage 2 as intitally I couldn't spend long enough walking that distance so stage 1 was a walk around the block with a 30s run and building up from there until I could run for 10 mins, then went to C25k to gently build the stamina... 12m after starting it, I did my deferred marathon 😁

First time around, I'd never run for 10 mins in a row despite the rantings of my PE teachers, so it was all very new, and it was very much building fitness from the toll of pregnancy birth. Lots of DOMS after especially in my calves.

Second time round it was more of an exercise in holding back and not doing it. While clearly off-peak, I was still relatively fit from years of running and maintaining cross-training. I did notice that my balance was off though and fell over a couple of times which have been the only times.

I've done C25k "lite" a few times after a short slump and fast-tracked one run of each type or skipped through a series of runs to get out of a rut. It's a good confidence booster when you know you can do it and have done it.

The podcasts are permanently in my phone as I do access then often enough.

I’ve done c25k loads of times. And wouldn’t have a problem doing it again. The main thing I’ve found with running is consistency. Running consistently will bring improvements.

I did the whole programme each time. I'm not trying to sound boastful but the first 3 weeks were very easy as I walk everywhere so already had some fitness, then I can't remember which week it is but it does ramp up quite suddenly! Good luck x

I've started again for maybe my fourth time! The first time I did it all and regularly ran 5k, then the last time I tried I got injured after a few runs so wasn't able to complete it. This time I'm moving on to week 3 tomorrow!
