What exercise can I do without getting sweaty?

Ok I know that sounds nuts but hear me out!
I'm getting a tattoo on Saturday (a long awaited cover up for a shit tramp stamp I got done in the 90s that I've hated for the last 15 years!) and the advice is not to exercise for 7-10 days. I asked why and they said it's because they don't want my tattoo to get sweaty because it affects the healing and can make it end up spreading. So I can do exercise as long as it's nothing sweaty - or swimmy - water other than a shower will do the same thing apparently.
I'm planning on going for a longish walk at 6 every morning which is when I'd usually be doing a work out. And now the mornings are lighter I actually think this will be quite nice. But I'm a bit of an exercise junkie. And I'm stressing a bit that I'm going to lose strength and fitness. Can anyone think of anything else I can add?
Thank you

Do weights? It's cardio that makes me sweat a lot. I've never been told not to exercise after a tattoo though - I don't think that's usual advice.

I've never heard of being sweaty being an issue. My combat instructor took classes with her plastic cover still in place from a newish tattoo

Depends where the tat is,is it in a place where you sweat a lot,is it covered by a dressing of any sort.. just wondering because I had a lesion removed from my chest 7 weeks ago, and had to cover it in the shower with a mepore dressing (got from local pharmacy) I wasn't allowed to exercise only very gently for 6 weeks.

Honestly, I can't think of anything aside from the walking that you've already mentioned. 7- 10 days won't make too much difference to overall strength and fitness if you have a good fitness level

I think you'd be better off focusing on getting the best possible result for your new tattoo

edited to add in response to pps that there is advice suggesting that you should avoid getting a new tattoo sweaty. I also have a couple of friends who've been similarly advised

God I get REALLY sweaty doing weights 😂 not AS bad as cardio but pretty bad. Maybe they're just being over cautious then? I have a couple of other tattoos and I don't remember being told not to get sweaty for those - but I can't remember whether I was already into exercise by the time I got them. If not then it probably would have been instantly forgotten.

It's lower back so yep quite a potentially sweaty place. How about yoga? I haven't done it in ages. Is it sweaty?

Pilates and yoga. Yes, you can sweat a bit, but not like with running or aerobics.

But, I don't think it's healthy to be so addicted to exercise that taking a few days off is such a problem.

Yoga is great conditioning exercise for muscle tone balance and flexibility. You can do a1 hour session without getting sweaty.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 10/04/2024 20:11

Yoga or something that you can do gently and ease off if you start feeling warm?

HeddaGarbled · 10/04/2024 20:12

Hold a plank for a long time.

Rebusmyfire · 10/04/2024 20:16

Rowing machine? Just don't go madly fast.

There are plenty of people who take their exercise seriously enough to want to keep up their hard-won muscle tone by adapting, without being addicted.

If the OP was "addicted" they would be ignoring the advice and carrying on as normal, but they're not doing that.
