What are some ways to exercise without feeling like you're exercising? I.e. not the stereotypical running/doing a gym workout/swimming/hiit or aerobics classes.

Something which is more like a hobby but keeps you fit...

Cycling to get from A to B rather than just going for a bike ride (though that is great too)

Dancing? My friend started going to jive classes and loves it. There’s also ballet, tap, ceroc, ballroom, disco, dancing round the living room in your pants. I love aqua aerobics - that’s like a disco in the water.

I used to go to badminton club every week. That was fun and I was sweaty.

Nothing else to offer. Sorry.

I've enjoyed going to beginner tennis lessons.
Netball?

Try photography 😂walking around the city trying to find something nice to photograph really helps with increasing activity levels. On the other hand, though, you spend a lot of times sitting on your butt editing those pictures and Photoworks won't tell you you've been sitting for so long...
Seriously, though, getting out of the house helps a lot. You can listen to music or audiobooks so that time would pass by faster.

Thanks all! I feel like I spend so much time running after smalls, and we cycle almost everywhere, but I'm still 2 dress sizes on where I was and I get out of breath so easily. I used to dance pre kids but I have two left feet. I enjoyed it, but there was a pressure to be good at it rather than it just being fun and looking silly adding to the experience. Will look into tennis or badminton, might also hit the social needs then too!!

ha funnily enough I used to shoot weddings, agreed it's great exercise when you're actually holding the camera!! I miss it a lot actually.

If you have young children I would look at what is available locally that you can do regularly, and might enjoy. The best "exercise" will be one you are consistent at.

The NHS guidelines for healthy adults (a starting point) are ticked with five brisk walks and two Pilates classes a week, but there are many other ways to achieve that baseline. https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/physical-activity-guidelines-for-adults-aged-19-to-64/

I started with brisk walking and have done all sorts since including boxing and strength training at the moment (I'm 57). A regular bookable commitment with a social aspect really helps I think, especially when you start, both in terms of motivation but also using your time effectively, so I would look at good classes or well run groups.
