Goggles that don't fog after a few swims please?

Hi. I (F45) swim 3 or 4 times a week so need a good pair of goggles. My last few pairs have all fogged up after a couple of weeks wear despite being marketed as anti fog. Can anyone recommend a pair of goggles that don't fog up please?

Following as I need these too . . .

Don't exist, but you can get anti fog spray to treat them with.

HoppingPavlova · 23/03/2024 15:14

I know this is going to sound really gross, but, have you tried spitting on them? I was going to buy anti-fog spray for snorkeling mask and everyone laughed and said ‘why don’t you just spit in it like you do in goggles’. I had never heard of this. Turns out it’s true. Give goggles a quick rinse in water you are swimming with, shake to remove any excess water, give a spit in each side (or a few in a snorkel mask), and smear all over the surface, completely covering all the plastic/glass lens. Whack it on your face and voila, no fog for your entire swim. Gross, but works, is quick, easy and free!

Experimenting with goggles that fit your face and yep lick them inside is what I do. I wear aquasphere kayenne ones after trying a few different types,£20 a go normally last 1-2yrs. My dsis is opposite likes the Swedish minimal ones I couldn’t get on with them they sit more in eye socket.,

StamppotAndGravy · 23/03/2024 16:31

Don't use anti fog spray! A lot of them contain really nasty chemicals that you don't want anywhere near your eyes. Spitting in them works, or a rince with diluted baby shampoo just before you put them on each time.

PronounsBaby · 23/03/2024 18:23

Spit. It's what scuba divers do.

shatteredmum1 · 23/03/2024 21:13

I swim often. I smear my spit on the inside and outside of the lens . Then rinse of in the pool. It works.

Fatcish · 23/03/2024 22:15

Thank you for the suggestions. Seems I'm looking for a Unicorn! So annoying so many pairs claim to be anti fogging. I no dainty lady but not sure I can spit in them as never spat in my life...but I'll lick the lenses and try that ☺️!

Following! Does anyone wear contacts and goggles?

Shouldhavebutdidnt · 23/03/2024 22:17

I lick the lenses of mine & kids goggles and never have a problem with fogging, gross but works!!

And I’ve never spat in public either 😂

parietal · 23/03/2024 22:28

Google told me to smear toothpaste on the inside, leave a minute the rinse gently. Works in the same way as the anti fog sprays but not toxic. And it did definitely improve things.

Yes I do! I do always take a spare pair of lenses in case of accidents as I drive to the pool. And I swim quite late so I remove my lenses and switch to glasses when I get home. Not had any eye issues so far.

Meeee! Following this thread with interest now...

Gunnersforthecup · 24/03/2024 02:55

You aren't supposed to wear contacts swimming because of the risk of pseudomonas infection. You aren't supposed to get water on contacts for that reason.

parietal · 24/03/2024 22:06

you can buy prescription googles on Amazon - much better than wearing contacts in the pool

Coldupnorth87 · 24/03/2024 22:08

Apparently contacts & swimming is a very bad idea.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 24/03/2024 22:11

I used to wear contacts and goggles, I used disposable lenses and took them out and switched to glasses as soon as I got out of the pool to mitagate any infection risk. Never had a problem.

I've got prescription goggles now which are fab. And, yes, I spit in them!

Absolutely not!

Everytime I go for a contact lens check and the optician asks if I swim or shower in them I always think does anyone ever answer yes to that!?

I've got prescription goggles. Cost about £20 and doesn't put me at risk of horrible eye infections or losing a contact lens.

Shellingbynight · 24/03/2024 22:17

I've been wearing goggles for swimming for over 30 years and have never had them fog up. I use basic Speedo goggles, I put them on with goggles and face dry, no spitting or rinsing. I've had my current pair for about two years and have no problems with them.

I think maybe the main issue is finding goggles which fit properly - which can be a bit like finding a unicorn. It's impossible to recommend because it depends on the shape of your face/eye sockets.

Hohofortherobbers · 24/03/2024 22:36

Put a spot of shampoo on the inside lens and rub, wash off in the pool, voila, no fog.

chuggachug · 25/03/2024 07:25

Use Vaseline. Rub a TINY amount around the lens and wipe off. So there is a microscopic amount left. If you leave globs of it you can't see but you only need the tiniest amount

Fatcish · 25/03/2024 22:40

Thanks for all the suggestions. Quick update as I tried the licking the lenses tip tonight and it worked quite well. I wasn't very thorough as felt a bit odd but definitely less fogging! Will try shampoo and vaseline next. Thank you!

These are great! Don’t fog up for me. I make sure they are sealed round my eyes before I put the strap on. By this I mean I can look down at the floor without the strap behind my head.
