Gym then swim - changing!?

For the first time ever I’ve signed up to a gym that also has a swimming pool.
I have a lovely vision of doing a mixed cardio/resistance workout, then transitioning as seamlessly as possible into the pool (quick poolside rinse first of course) for a nice swim.

For those of you who do this, … do you wear your swimming costume underneath your gym kit, triathlon style, to minimise changing hassle, or will this burn my flaps off after 10 mins on the treadmill?! and therefore should just stop being so lazy and change properly in the locker room into a swimming costume?

Not liking the idea of having to hoik a swimming costume onto sweaty skin but is this generally the best option anyway?
(as you can probably tell I’m an overthinker 🤣)

Going into the swimming pool sweaty is revolting! Please change and shower between your gym session and swim for the sake of the other users. It shouldn't be too hard to get a swim suit on off your dry off well after your shower

I used to gym, shower then put costume on in the shower. Couldn't workout in a costume as you'd sweat way more and I also need a very sturdy bra!

As long as there are private shower cubicles take off gym kit, shower, put on swimming costume.

Unless I am testing new triathlon kit (in which case I would at the very least shower in the tri kit so I wasn't going sweaty into the pool) I would always switch to a swimming costume for comfort and to reduce wear and tear on my sports bras. I'd never wear a swimming costume in the gym and trisuits are a bit of a jack of all trades master of none.

Shower and change in a cubicle shower after putting your trainers, bag etc in a locker.

Thanks all. Just to be clear, “poolside rinse” is what I mean by a pre swim shower. Obviously I wouldn’t go into the pool sweaty 😏

well, except that you were ALSO talking about wearing your swimsuit during the workout, so a "rinse" isn't going to cut it.

Just take the swimsuit into the shower cubicle. Get it wet and it will go on easily enough. Couple of minutes.

'Burn my flaps off' has sent me 🤣🤣🤣. It reminds me of the "your minge" thread. Now it'd be like, DH was mouthing, "your flaps, your flaps are in flames.

Sorry, sorry.

I read your post carefully. You proposed wearing a swimsuit to work out in, then to swim in the same swimsuit. A "poolside rince" won't remove the sweat under that swimsuit or that's soaked in the fabric. For that you need soap and a proper wash.

I need a proper sports bra so haven’t ever considered this!

As a triathlete it's quite normal to swim in a running bra on race day so you can go directly from one event to another - as long as you use the compression sort (I use shock absorber ultimate) rather than the moulded cup type they dry reasonably quickly. Tri shorts are made with a smaller chamois so you're comfy on a bike without having so much padding you never get dry. Though if it's pool rather than open water, the chlorine makes them wear out more quickly which can get expensive.

I think you need to treat them as two separate activities. So shower with soap after the gym to properly remove sweat, then change into swimsuit. Unless you have a very structured swimming costume, they are easy enough to get on after a shower.

We all wear sports bras under our club swimsuits because they're a bit revealing and it's no fun spending hours on the side feeling uncomfortably unsupported. I wouldn't wear an expensive one though!
