Budget friendly trainers for dodgy knees!

Can anyone recommend a pair of trainers that are decent to help avoid knee pain when running? Don’t want to spend a lot of money and runs won’t be long or overly frequent- 5km max. Just don’t want to spend a lot as already have numerous other pairs of trainers but they are more for strength training so wouldn’t be good for running.

I looked at Fitville on a recommendation. There were very mixed reviews regarding delivery and customer service, and I think they were based in America. I used their guide to get my size, and using their own advice on measuring length and girth of my foot they didn't have a size to fit me...
In the end I didn't bother and am still searching. At the moment, I'm going to be looking at Hoka (not cheap!), Brooks (not cheap, but cheaper than Hoka), and Asics.

I would bite the bullet and spend a bit more on trainers from a specialist running shop where they will help you to find ones that suit your feet. If your knees ache it's possibly because you over or under pronate and need more support, but similarly if you don't and you buy support trainers then something else might ache instead! Bear in mind that an extra £50-60 on trainers is only one physio session when you get injured from wearing the wrong shoes......

Thanks, I know I probably should and worry I may disappear down a rabbit hole if I start looking into it more deeply! Just not sure my budget at the moment will allow for it.
I don’t have any specific injury as such, just general wear and tear from an old hobby. But you’re right, pronating could be an issue.
