Thinking of joining Bannatynes

Hi. I'm looking at joining a gym. I've only ever done a 6 week boot camp type gym before but never joined a regular gym.
We've got several gyms in the area but only 4 with pools. One of these is the council leisure centre and pool times are very limited, and the other two are a ridiculous price. This only leaves Bannatynes as an option for a gym with a pool. I was hoping for a pool as I love swimming. I'll probably do some classes but I'm not sure how much of the actual gym I'll use. Does anyone have any general info, pros and cons of Bannatynes before I sign up please? I suppose I'd like to know how busy it is at peak times, how easy it is to book classes, how clean it is, how safe you feel, and anything else I might need to consider. Thanks.

I liked it! Classes got very very busy so have to be on it to book. I used to get 30% off spa treatments which was nice!

I joined it maybe 15 years ago. It was wonderful and I absolutely loved it.

Then I was securely assaulted and from then on I just couldn't cope with being around sweaty men. I explained this to them on the phone and begged them to let me cancel my membership.

Nope. They made me pay up until the end of the contract. I asked if a consultant's note (about the PTSD) would change their mind.

Still no. I'd signed a contract which was perfectly clear, and anyway, it would do me good to go to the gym since getting stronger would increase my self confidence. If I'd been stronger, maybe I'd have been able to fight him off. And it's not like I could spend my whole life avoiding sweaty men.

Bastards.

Sorry, I know that's probably not the information you were looking for!

Bannatynes seems to be the only gym openly stating that men with "women feelz" will not be able to access the women's changing rooms. For this reason alone I would join if there was one beside me.

There's a David Llloyd beside me where they allow men in to the women's changing rooms.

Not the Lakeside one. Filthy and noisy. Not worth the money imo

I'm so sorry to hear this. What a terrible thing to happen to you, not made any better by their response which seems to be at odds with their policy which says you can cancel due to illness/ injury.
