Hello
If I want to do 30mins cardio and 30 mins on the resistance machines, am I best (for the heart work out) doing the 30mins in one go then resistance, or split 15 and 15 or could do 20 and 20 but couldn't do 40 mins in one go I get too board. Thanks

You can split it however makes it bearable to you! Do the resistance work first for best results.

Also, if you want to improve cardio fitness quickly it's better to use a HIIT pattern rather than a steady plod. So eg on a bike do a couple of minutes warm up then do a repeat of 30 seconds pedalling as fast as you can, then 30 seconds slow pedal recovery.

@FusionChefGeoff thanks, that's good to know. Is there a time that is best to keep that up for?

The main thing is to add a minute or two every time you go so you are progressing. It should be exhausting so start with 2 mins warm up, 5 mins intense HIIT, 2 mins slower.

Always start with strength work. Use cardio as a finisher.

Strength work needs to be a progressive overload programme. And it’d be more effective to use free weights as well as machines.

Invest in learning the classic lifts: squats, deadlifts, and bench press. The first two will give you fabulous abs and really strong legs and back.
