Running resources, tips, journal…

I’ve recently joined a running club, where basically I go out and run with the group. I’ve got a couple of 10Ks in the diary, and a wishful thinking half marathon next March.

I’m loving the discipline of having to turn up to the club, but struggling to fit other runs in due to work commitments.

That said, I’m enjoying running and want to get more involved.

Can anyone recommend any resources, books, running journals that can get me more involved. I think I need more of a plan to move forward with my running. Aside from the club one night a week, I’m winging it.

For plans the free runners world ones are fantastic. They have a really variety for runners of all levels.

Hey! I'll suggest you to check out "Born to Run" or "ChiRunning" for tips also try using a running journal like "Believe Training Journal" to track progress. Join online forums or local running groups for support and advice keep moving forward!

Women's Running UK have some good plans as well and loads of articles. Or if you didn't mind spending money you could buy a basic-ish running watch with built in coaching plans. I got an old Garmin (Forerunner 55, I think) specifically because of the adaptive training plans - it takes a lot of the thinking out for me and saves time on lots of research. It also saves all your runs so you can look back on your progress.

If you own a Garmin, you can try one of the 5K, 10K or HM plans.

Runners world is good for training tips amd running related news.

I keep a bullet journal for running fitness and record what I do in there along with my plans. There's a bit of effort in set-up, but you can set it up exactly as you like it. Mine's fairly simple and it's got easier over time.

I really like watching the Running Channel youtube videos. Great for motivation, tips and workout ideas.

I exercise pretty much every day.
Personally I've found that time didn't reading / journaling / watching motivational videos is time that could be better spent just getting into it!
So IMO, make the time available and JFDI.
A quick 20min 3km run is better than no run.
