Can anyone interpret an X-ray?

this is my fibula fracture X-ray after 6 weeks. Almost no change from original. Was put in aircast. Radiologist says they have never seen a fracture like this.
For anyone that can interpret X-rays, is it acceptable to keep a bone like this?

Can anyone interpret an X-ray?

ouch.

fwiw, iirc, as a non medical person, they don't do anything about patching the little bone in the leg, it's not worth the aggro you'd experience if they tried. Your big leg bone is important one.

exBoyf broke both leg bones across. His little leg bone was like yours. Surgeons ignored it & only patched the big one.

Did you actually see a radiologist? Or do you mean the person taking your X-ray (radiographer) said that?

They can’t be too experienced if they’ve never seen one of these, they’re quite frequent in any busy A&E.

You can see the healing process on the bottom part of the fracture- the bit that looks like a cloudy bone. Quite normal for nothing to be done about the fibula depending on where it’s broken, as it’s a non-weight bearing bone. Not an ortho surgeon so not sure on healing specifics.

Is that the only fracture in that lower leg?
How did you do it ?

It is the only break an isolated fibular fracture due to a sports injury. It’s the fragment off to the side that seems odd and hanging by a thread….
but then again, I know nothing about reading an X-ray…

You might want to ask them about that extra bit of bone that's broken off, and whether it might cause potential issues with the sporting activity. You're not going to want it becoming a nuisance with tendons or muscles.

@njshep yes, it’s called a comminuted fracture.
Do you have a follow up at fracture clinic where you can ask an orthopod your questions? Would be helpful
for you. If not, I’d push for a referral.

Good luck 🤞🏼

Thanks HP89. Yes, ortho in a week or so.
