There seem to be a lot of threads on finding motivation to exercise.

For those who do exercise or those who want to exercise, what's the primary reason you either currently exercise or want to exercise regularly? Do you think regular exercise is more of a chore or a gift?

Now I'm mid-40's I can completely see the physical and mental health benefits when I compare myself with women of similar ages.

And the disparity gets worse as we age.

Some people my age (70) are old, really old. Whereas I'm super-fit and still ski like women half my age.

Exercising is so totally worth it, and there is an at least moderately enjoyable form of exercise out there for most people.

I’m mid 40s. I think I may have tried every form of exercise available. I hate all exercise and think I always will. I have never felt the “high” some people talk about.

BUT - I do it. Not a huge amount but a bit. I do weights with a PT once a week and try to do a short at home work out once or twice a week too. I make sure I walk each day. I do it because much as I hate it, I know it’s good for me. It helps me sleep better. As I age, I know that it will help me stay more mobile and for longer and less likely to develop osteoporosis. So I force myself to do it, even though I don’t enjoy it at all.

Have you tried Caroline Girvan for at home weight training, @LMMuffet ? I also like the Garage Girl, and I hear KayKay is very good too.

For general exercise workouts, HIIT and cardio, I'd look at Growingannanas, Heather Robertson and Sydney Cummings.

I hope you'll get some enjoyment from one or more of the above 😀

Thanks for the suggestions @Tulpenkavalier . Very kind of you to try to help me.

But honestly, it’s fine. I do weight training with a PT and I like her, which helps. I have tried many online sessions (including a couple you have suggested) and they are fine too.

I just don’t enjoy exercise or sport! I’ll keep going because sometimes in life you have to do things you don’t enjoy because it’s important that it’s done. Like housework!

This is why I exercise too.
I do it to keep my mobility up. I saw how quickly some older people permanently lost their mobility during lockdown when they just spent all day sitting, they have become doddery and haven’t regained their mobility.
I sit a lot and don’t want to become infirm. I had already started suffering arthritis in my early 40’s and I know it’s important to keep my muscles strong to support my joints, and to keep my joints moving so I don’t seize up.
I detest exercise, but I hurt more when I don’t do any.

This is very true.
