Anyone exercise to help back pain

I have scoliosis and other back issues. Constantly have back pain. Used to do pump but stopped couple of years ago as wasn't sure if it was making back pain worse.

I've been advised by GP to do some back strengthening exercises but I'm worried I'm going to make it worse.

I used to love going to the gym but I'm worried about going back due to onset of pain

actually ,chatting to ... someone ... dementia strikes ... I recalled that I actually want to try adult ballet before I try Pilates. Pilates is too much like Yoga & yoga just bores the pants off me.

Tricky bit is I have no sense of rhythm so don't ever belong on a dance floor. But I feel positive about the ballet I learned as a teenager. But would never want to perform so maybe not at all appropriate.

Gawd, 1 to 1 ? I loathe that much attention. And how much does that cost? And how boring is it? I'm not even living consistently in same place for next 5 months. Just getting to my dentist appointments (I need a load of dental work) and to work is going to tax my organisational skills. And my wallet.

Definitely easily turns into something I can procrastinate about. Maybe in 2024. Along with 6 other things I'd like to try when my life gets stable again.

@lljkk I get it - it's all a bit overwhelming..

I don't have the temprement for yoga - I fidget too much and I don't want to think about breathing, I just get hiccups.

I hope you find something that clicks for you. I get that the 1:1 can be intense but I asked for three moves that would fix my stiff shoulder, make improve my posture and loosen my lower back, and then we practised these until I got them working nicely.

@lljkk get thee to an adult ballet class! There are a lot of them about, and (unlike classes for teens) they are generally very friendly inclusive classes.

If you're ever anywhere near London, there are some great studios & teachers who specialise in adult beginners & returners-after-a-long-time-away in ballet. There's a great community now!
