I hate walking

I know that sounds dramatic but I do really dislike walking. My activity levels have plummeted over the last few years and I’m getting pretty enormous. However when I try to exercise by walking I regret it as I don’t enjoy it and it makes my body ache. I put music on and I try to keep going but I often get some of the way and wish I hadn’t started! Then you have to get back so have to continue longer than you want to. Anyone have any tips to make it more tolerable?

I walk a lot ( speed walk) and it is the best exercise for your legs and stomach.
I would advise that you walk little but often. You could start with a ten minute walk and then increase this. Before you know it you will be walking for an hour.

I'm more of a runner but during periods of low motivation I set myself a target. A target might be to run as far as I can in 10 minutes and then walk home once I've added in warm up stretches and a cool down it's 30 mins exercise. You could try walking as far as you can in 10 mins and then walking back at a slow pace.

Some really good tips here! It’ll get better the more you do it.

Have you tried making your daily routine more active, rather than going out for a walk as exercise. I hate exercise for the sake of it, but I ride to work and to the shops, and try walk as many errands as possible. Then it doesn’t feel like exercise, it’s just getting from A-B. It’s been pretty life changing for me.
