Recommendations for fitness trackers

Hi, positing here as want one to facilitate my exercise, mainly heart rate and steps features.

Can anyone recommend a fitness tracker for less than £50? Ideally one that measures heart rate. I dont think i want a fitbit as Im unlikely to sign up for premium membership once the offer period ends and have heard its more limited without this.
Also, I cant wear a wrist watch at work and would like to monitor my steps daily (not when using heart rate function)- can they be worn anywhere else to track steps (e.g ankle)?

Thank you 😊

MNers say Fitbit is "limited" without Premium, and then never list a single Premium feature which they want.
Meanwhile the desired features listed with 'free' Fitbit are exactly what people say they want.

So I don't get the anti-Fitbit-because-Premium prejudice.
If you're still anti-Fitbit then MNers often rate Garmin activity trackers.

fwiw, heart rate on my fitbit is great (accurate & 'free', optical sensor, validated with Polar & Garmin chest strap monitors). In contrast, step counter feature is also 'free' but about 10% too high and steps get counted when I cycle, so basically step counts are completely wrong. Many Fitbit users insist they get no steps counted if they push a buggy or a shopping trolley. (I do get steps counted when I push a shopping cart). I dunno which step-counter is ever accurate. Which is why I wouldn't care if counted steps when worn on ankle, the number is never right anyway.

You can't buy a new good quality tracker for < £50. I did buy my 2nd hand FBit-Charge-3 for £15, though. I bought £10 no-brand trackers on eBay that said they were water resistant but stopped working as soon as they touched water.

At least I can bump your thread, maybe someone can link to a budget price tracker that they highly rate.

I have worn a Mi-Band for several years and just upgraded to the most recent one. They are very reliable, no subscription costs and lots of great features all under £50, not sure if you can wear it on your ankle though!

I moved from a Fitbit to a Garmin Lily, and have now upgraded to a Garmin Venu2s. Love it

The positioning on the wrist is usually pretty important for the HR reading. Can’t see this would work on ankle. But an old fashioned HR chest strap could be a better option that you can wear under clothing and is linked to your watch. I assume they still exist?!!

I wear my fitbit everywhere on my limbs (ok not thighs) but yes regularly on upper forearm, lower leg, upper arm. Swapping arms & legs. The optical HR sensor seems to work fine in all these places.

Step count would be very whacky on leg, I imagine. But Step counts is whacky anywhere you wear the device.

I wanted a slim line model. Think about if you want a big square, little rectangle, large circle, etc.

I have fit bit inspire 2,currently £44 at Argos.

Measures my heart rate, sleep ,steps, calories burnt, activities( auto recognises classes at the gym) without the premium feature.
