Les Mills Base

I’m thinking of signing up for 30 days free trial then £5.99 month.
I’ve always exercised and run but after 6 months of knee and iliac bursitis I’ve lost a lot of fitness.
I walk every day for about an hour or more.
Am I being too ambitious with the Les Mills exercise classes?

so much choice of exercise programmes, stretch, core, low impact, dance, strength, cardio, HIIT… I’m sure you’ll find some to suit.

I have been using les mills on demand for just over a year and won’t ever go back to the gym.
I save so much time doing it at home at a time that suits me and I don’t have to fight for weights or spots and instructors are great.

they have a supportive Facebook group.

go for it, the 30 day free trial is a good way to see if it is for you

@Workerbeep thank you. I like the fact that the cost is clear and lots of options. Really I’ve got nothing to lose.
Thank you 🙏

Just a bit of caution - Les Mills Base is a good intro to the classes, but is limited on programmes and it's only the most recent releases.

Last time I looked in Tesco club card they did a decent offer on membership for the old LMOD+ (now known as premium membership)

Thank you @kittykarate , I’m trying the 30 day free trial and seeing if base is enough. Good advice re Tesco Clubcard.

I have the LMOD for 3 months for £14.99 which was a good deal.... however, as much as I like doing the classes, I prefer structured programs. I'll be doing the new Sydney Cummings Houdyshell (YouTube) program in January, and then probably just use LMOD for combat or bodybalance. If you like pump, then a bar is a good investment, I have an older version of this from Argos
www.argos.co.uk/product/9341801?clickSR=slp:term:weights:16:21:2
if you buy a bar it's worth paying to get it delivered.

If you look around in the plans and challenges in the app there are schedules of workouts you can do. I use 'Optimal Mix (no equipment) 'which gives 5 or 6 workouts to do a week . Then I ignore the Grit days and do Barre instead. There's a 3 workouts a week version of optimal mix, and ones that need equipment (weights, spin bike).

Thank you, I’ll have a look at that 👍

I've used LM On Demand since lockdown as I managed to get 3 months free and then just as that was finishing I got a half-price offer on Instagram. So I pay something like £75 a year which is a bargain!

I've been lazy lately so have stuck to pump and combat but I've done a few of their challenges too, which are really good. Grit never gets any easier though!

I actually prefer the older releases to the new so was v chuffed last week as they added one hour versions of some old pumps and combats that previously were only available in the 30 min format.

rwalker · 31/12/2022 19:46

Body balance is good and non impact yoga and Pilates based
as for body pump l’d look on market place for 2nd weights you’ll pick them up for next to nothing

KillingMeDeftly · 31/12/2022 19:47

I bought my pump set from Jordan Fitness at the start of the first lockdown and they're a gym supplier so the quality is decent.

MsMartini · 31/12/2022 22:47

I've been doing LM since lockdowns and really like it. I got an annual offer which works out at about 4 quid a month, and my previous offer wasn't much more, so I would do the free trial then cancel and see what you get offered. The FB group says base doesn't really have enough variety.

caramac04 · 01/01/2023 10:31

Thank you for replies. Base does seem a bit limited but I can alternate with kettlebell sessions (bodyfit by Amy, free on YouTube).
Good idea to cancel after free trial and see what offers I get as I’d prefer on demand I think.

Hey, I've just signed up for Les Mills base kind of on impulse. Useful tips here, thanks. I will give it a go and cancel after the 30 days free to see offers, or look into Tesco vouchers. OP let me know how you get on!
