Does anyone use or own a vertical climber?

I used to use a vertical climber in a gym I used about 20 years ago - a strange piece of kit that takes a bit of getting used to. I haven't seen another vertical climber in any other gym but I was thinking of buying one - maybe refurbished as they are pretty expensive.

e.g. Versaclimber LX - there are plenty of videos on YT if you don't know what one is. To use them you have to move both your arms and legs in a climbing motion but it's a smooth action similar to cycling so I am hoping that the claimed "low impact" will be fine for my knees after 3 lots of knee surgery (once on the left, twice in the right - all down to 25years of running) - I also had to have shoulder surgery - I took up swimming after I could no longer run and was lane swimming - front crawl for up to 9hrs a week - 3 x 3hr swims - a relaxing pace of 100 25m laps an hour - inevitably I suppose - my shoulder started playing up, I had decompression surgery and it didn't work out - I was unable to start swimming again. I walk my dog 1-2hrs every other day (share the walking with my wife) - I'm plenty fit in that respect but not fit how I used to be and I find that plays on my mind a lot - it gets me down - I've been thinking about how to keep fit for a while - I have an electric bike - I had to go electric as my knees play up if I put too much force through them for too long a period of time on the hills around here - there's nothing too dramatic but my knees, once aggravated, can play up for several days afterwards - I'm just not sure if I will be able to do much on the climber - I've searched and asked around locally, local FB groups and no gym seems to have them. If you research them they are a highly rated piece of kit but they are far more expensive than Concept 2 rowers, bikes or cross trainers - I've tried them - including the elliptical ones and they play my knees up.

I just wondered if anyone had one or used one - particularly anyone who has had any knee surgery - possibly as a result of too much sport - I played a lot of football - 5-a-side mainly - on top of the running I did.

TBH - I'm not expecting many replies to this! Just having a sad reflective day about all the amazing runs and swims I used to be able to do but now can't.

We have a stair climber thing at the gym if that’s what you mean? I’m not sure it would be ideal for someone with dodgy knees.
