Coccyx pain and exercise

I've had covid recently, and although the initial illness wasn't too bad, since then I've been getting bouts of dizziness, nausea and ringing in my ears.

Yesterday, I managed to fall down the stairs and I have really really hurt my coccyx. It is agony if I stand up but I also have a constant dull ache. I'm gutted as I was desperate to get back to exercise once I got over covid, and now this has really set me back. Exercise is really important for my mental health, and I'm starting to feel really down about things now.

Does anyone have any advice about what exercise I can safely do with a bruised/fractured coccyx? Normally, I do a few strength workouts a week (kettlebells or dumbbells), a couple of cardio sessions (usually kickboxing tabata type ones) and I do pilates several times a week. I can't lie on my back at the moment, which rules out a lot of pilates exercises. I had a look online for some coccyx pain relief stretches and it recommended things like child's pose. There is no way I would be able to sit back into that posewithout the pain being excruciating.

Any advise greatly received!

Rest it!
some gentle walking.
swimming perhaps?
if you’re missing the buzz for mental health then wild cold water dipping def gives you a buzz!

Thank you. I know I need to be patient and rest it. I will definitely do some walking as the pain is much better when I'm upright! I will consider swimming as well.

I’d see a physio. I fractured my coccyx and took years of Pilates to heal the damage to the surrounding ligaments etc.

probably too niche but peloton has standing core classes.

I agree, see a physio, and/or go to your local injury clinic. You don’t know what damage has been done, so get assessed and get advice on how to proceed.

I did injure my coccyx a few years ago as well (at soft play!) and it gradually got better on its own, probably after a year or so. The pain feels much more intense this time, so maybe I will have to look at physio this time 😕

I don't subscribe to Pelaton, but I will have a look at some standing core and pilates classes on YouTube.
