Plantar fasciitis

I do a lot of group exercise classes and some gym / treadmill. Can anyone recommend a good shoe please to help with the pain?
At the moment I wear brooks ghost but they are worn out which is what I think has caused the PF.
Should I just replace them with another pair of the same? When I bought them (about 4 years ago) I used to do a lot of road running so they were perfect but I rarely do that any more. Should I get a training shoe instead? Does it make a difference? I did love them because they were SO cushioned.
I just want to be able to do my classes without hobbling around like an old lady afterwards! I really dont want to just rest for a couple of months. I need to be able to exercise for my MH.
Thank you!!

Sketchers are good for plantar as they have good arch support. Massage the sole of your foot with the back of a cold spoon - painful but relieving! Also massage your legs and back of your ankles as plantar is caused by strain in the ankles pulling on your foot. My plantar was agony for about 6 months and then one night I had what felt like an electric shock in my foot and it went.

If you Google it, there are exercises which really help. Also wearing inserts in all your shoes. Have you been wearing backless shoes this summer? I was told that also exacerbates it. Hope you get better soon.

I agree that Skechers are good. And never ever go barefoot, not even in the house. Wear springy flip flops or sheepskin slippers or slip on cushioned walking shoes.

But also, if you train a lot, you really should be changing your shoes every year at least - sometimes every 6 months. As soon as the cushioning wears thin. PF is so badly exacerbated by worn out training shoes.

I've had PF a few times, I would recommend trying to get a steroid injection. It will go eventually but my first time lasted nearly 16 months, that was with doing the exercises, good shoes and insoles.

I only wear ASICS, the ones with support, for classes, really supportive and comfy.

I would spend the money on a good physio first.

You can mask the issue by reducing the amount you foot moves of you can deal with the issue so that your feet get stronger snd more capable.

My PF was worse first thing in the morning, after my feet had been relaxed overnight. The game changed for me was to do some exercises before getting up, first thing in the morning. Simple point and flex each foot in turn, ankle circles and 'writing my name in the air' with my toes.

I've found that mobilising my ankle before getting up and bearing weight has also helped with achilles tendonitis which overlaps to some extent.

Rolling the foot on a tennis/ golf ball helps. An iced water bottle may also help for rolling.

DS is seeing an osteopath for PF and has stretches for the muscles for the rear of his legs.

Shoes are very personal, but new shoes will have their optimal support. Normally some heel drop rather than totally flat helps. Be careful about all footwear, not just when exercising.

@BogRollBOGOF You are absolutely right about footwear - flip flops, converse - anything flat is a no no!

I bought insoles specific for this from Amazon! They really work!
