Race week

I'm doing a 10K in a few weeks and wondered what a good routine is for the week before. Long runs? Shorts runs? Fast runs? Slow runs? Rest days? Other exercises? And also do I need to eat a bit more for energy? What do I eat in the morning before the race?
Any advice from experiences runners would be great.

For a 10k I wouldn’t change too much but I’d make sure I wasn’t doing more.

I also really wouldn’t play around with what you eat. Runners belly is a thing…
Assuming you’ve not felt grim and energy less during training just eat what you normally eat.

Depends on several key factors - if it's your first 10k, if it's a target race, if you're training for something else at the same time, etc.

Food is easy - eat what you usually eat. 10k doesn't need any special prep. In terms of training the week before, just do what you'd normally do, with perhaps a steady shake-out run the day before, including a few strides at the end.

What training have you done till now?
I presume you've never raced a 10k?
What time is the race?
How far do you need to travel?
Do you have a goal time?
What do you normally eat and drink before you run?

Presumably you've run 10k or nearabouts in training - do whatever you did then, unless things went wrong.

You really don't need to worry about fuelling until runs start going over 15 miles or so (as long as diet is sensible in general) and particularly not for a 10k, which uses about as many calories as a large slice of cake!

You'll be fine, just don't go off too fast!

I really want to improve my time. And it's a super hilly route. But you are right I've already run the distance in my training so should be fine. Just don't want to be too tired on the day.

Which race are you doing, OP? Those of us who have run it before might be able to help with route and logistics tips. If it's extremely hilly then you need to take that into account and make sure you don't over-push it on the hills. That only leaves you with nothing left to nail the downs.
