What fitness routine would you recommend if I can't do yoga or weights?

I have a couple of issues (neck/head related) that I have been told to consider when exercising. Anything that puts pressure on the neck or upper body in a big way is off the table right now. I have been told to avoid yoga (upper body postures at least) and any kind of lifting, press ups, sit ups, dumbbells, etc.

I am able to do any aerobic fitness as long as I don't go extreme. I love walking, fell climbing, cycling, a bit of moderate running and like doing some very simple ballet barre stuff on a weekly basis.

Would you say this is enough going forward? I know all of these things are better than being sedentary of course, but I really longed to do yoga! I am just so contrary it seems!
I am drawn to graceful, mellow stuff and don't care for breaking a sweat.

How can I become flexible and stronger with all of those things ruled out? Will my aerobic type stuff be enough? I have seen some yoga videos for people who can't do upper body strength but I don't know if I can trust them as I am sure none of these people are physio's or dr's.

Would love to hear your thoughts.

What you do sounds perfect!

If possible, I would see a private specialist sports physio for advice. No-one here will know what your specific issue is and be ablem to advise safely. I don't know what you mean by "pressure" on your upper body but if you can't train it at all, then you can't, although I don't understand the climbing then? You might be able to strength train legs/do more barre/standing Pilates - but I would get advice.

Echoing the suggestion to see someone who can offer specific and professional advice :)

Well I'm not bouldering! Grin
I do fairly gentle climbing, fells, and so on, not Everest.
My issue is related to neck muscles and nerves so press ups for example stress them. A down dog pose sends me over spinning. Mostly neck pressure. This is the only info my physio has given me up to now.

All aerobic is safe, I just wonder how I could incorporate stuff to make me more flexible as I'd love that.

Yes, I see, still think if your neck is involved you need specific advice. But maybe look at standing Pilates/yoga tho it will only increase flexibility/mobility in the bits you train 😀.
