How bad is exercise with diastatsis recti

I had a one off osteopath appointment who said I had a bit of a diastasis recti from my last pregnancy 3 years ago and told me that certain exercises would make it worse. since then I have been nervous to do my yoga/Pilates because I don't know what I'm doing anymore. I don't have the money for more appointments and want to start using you tube for exercise rather than specific clubs. When I've tried googling specific yoga videos though they are all very gentle post natal workouts whereas I want something a bit more than that. I kind of just want to go back to doing a normal you tube (I used to do the adriene videos) and forget about the diastasis but just wanted to check if anyone on here knew if that would cause more problems than good? Or if I should just go for it so that I'm getting some exercise in? I personally can't feel it to see how bad is it or if it's not an issue because im quite overweight. Any ideas welcome thank you

The only exercise I would advise against are full sit up type exercises (so lifting shoulders off the floor should be fine but holding down your feet and bringing your elbows to your knees not so much). Personally I don’t see the point in sit ups anyway, there are way better and safer ways to get a great core.
go for it with any other yoga and Pilates moves with confidence and enjoy.

Lots of information on Katy Bowman's site

https://www.nutritiousmovement.com

I got a copy of all the different books though the local library. Hope these are helpful for you.

I used to avoid full planks as well as crunches, I did side plank instead. Fit by Amy on YouTube is a good workout with modifications for DR.

I found some exercises in YouTube that close it. There are exercise that close it. Take care though

All the best

Steph Bruce is good on this - she has a visible DR and is an international marathon runner on the US team:

I have DR and do yoga and pilates but I don't do full sit ups. I do lots of core strengthening exercises and use MUTU which is a DR specialist program to help "knit" you back together.

The way I understood DR is that it means that the core isn't as strong and you need to work on building it up again. Pilates especially helps me with this.
