I have a forerunner 235 which is huge on my wrist. I want to upgrade to a smaller watch with the body battery feature. I like the look of the Lily but it doesn’t have GPS which I’ll need when I get back to marathon training.

I think I’ve narrowed it down to between Venu, Forerunner 45s and Vivoactive 4s. Any recommendations or suggestions please?

I have the 55 and i love it. I really recommend the body battery feature as well.. it is always spot on with how I am feeling. Only a few cons (depending on what you want to use it for).- it often 'misses' a length or two in swimming distance and it isn't much good for triathlons, as you need to record each activity separately. Apart from that, it is great.. running data amazing and battery lasts at least a week.

Thank you @Boopear that’s really helpful. I have ME (or chronic fatigue, depends who you ask!) and currently having a really bad flare up thanks to Covid. I’ve been reading about the body battery being good for pacing energy levels and lots of people have said it’s fairly accurate.

When I’m well I run and go to the gym. Can’t swim, I drown easily 😬 would never consider a tri… public drowning would be mortifying! I have 2 marathons this October and I’m likely to be over 5.5hrs so need a decent battery too.

Just bought a forerunner 45s and I'm loving it. Cheaper than a 55 and though it doesn't have some of the additional features it has everything I need. I think the 45 is a bargain.

I would look at what the 45s can do versus other models and see whether you really need them. (It definitely has the body battery function).

I like my 45s though I am quite tempted by some other features (race pace, training recommendations and ability to record strength workouts) that don't come with this model. I don't find the body battery especially helpful I must confess. Gps is great and as an entry running watch it's good value, but if mine broke tomorrow I would probably upgrade though not sure what to!

Some of my hesitation is that I want to upgrade from the current 235 and want to be sure that the new watch is still better than it as well as having the body battery feature if that makes sense

I have the vivoactive4s and I love it and find the body battery a useful guide. I've not built up further than 10k yet so I can't say how well the actual battery would do with marathon distances. It does last a fairly long time, even with GPS. The music drains it faster obviously.

I have the lily and it does allow GPS if you carry your phone at same time, which I usually do for music. That said I do usually use my forerunner when running just because I like the info provided during runs, and can set time/distance alerts which I can't figure out how to do on lily. But I absolutely love my lily for wearing all day.

Thanks all. I’ve ordered the Venu 2S. Hoping for great things… and to be able to get out there again asap!
